My First Look at the All-New 2012 RXP-X 260

My Sea-Doo enthusiast friend, James Prisiak, drove five hours to Montreal in July for a first look at the 2012 RXP-X 260 at Club BRP. Call him crazy, but he’d seen the Sam Spade videos on the Sea-Doo website and wanted to see the star of the 2012 Sea-Doo line up for himself. He was blown away, and James is no pushover.

My reaction was the same. This muscular performer has killer looks in gleaming black with bright yellow highlights. The RXP-X’s sleek lines make it look fast even sitting in the Club BRP showroom and scream to be ridden hard. There’s no doubt just looking that the 2012 RXP-X 260 is a very special PWC.

In fact, this RXP-X promises to make every owner a better rider. That’s an ambitious undertaking, but one that is typically BRP. As an avid snowmobile myself, I know what the REV platform did for me on the snow and I look forward to what’s going to happen on the water for 2012.

I’m no motorhead or techno-geek, so when Sam Spade ran through the new innovations like the new T3 lean-in hull design and Ergolock seating with me at Club, I confess to not understanding the physics, geometries and mechanics that make this watercraft the ultimate performance machine. But while I may not get the why’s and wherefore’s, I do know that this advanced new RXP-X delivers all the goods, because I got to ride it at the BRP Ultimate Playground.

The 2012 RXP-X 260 is a rider’s dream. It corners on a dime, is incredibly nimble and stable, and best of all, gave me even more confidence – and I’m a very experienced rider. I’ve never felt so one with a PWC, as if it was custom designed to hold me securely in place during even my wildest manoeuvres. This takes my ability to ride and outperform my buddies up a huge notch, and that’s what this new RXP-X 260 is all about.

If you’re a performance enthusiast or want to be, this 2012 RXP-X 260 is the one for you. James drove all the way to Montreal for it and all you have to do is go to your local Sea-Doo dealer. And yeah, James has already placed his order for a 2012 RXP- 260, so now unless I do the same, that makes me the buddy who gets outperformed next summer! Talk to you next time.

On the July holiday long weekend, James Prisiak and I did a marathon ride through Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes. We left Burleigh Falls at 9 AM and got back there at 6:30 PM after riding seven major lakes and connectors on the famous Trent Severn Waterway. Whew! That’s 7 hours of actual running time, with 2 hours for lunch, lock thrus and other breaks. What a great ride, and not a cloud in the sky! As the first really great weekend of summer weatherwise, boaters were out in full force. Here are a few photos of our day trip – enjoy. Talk to you next time!  Craig Nicholson, The Intrepid Cottager

Cruising on Your Sea-Doo

Have you ever thought about PWC touring? You’ve come to the right place!

Hi, I’m Craig Nicholson and I’m a Sea-Doo rider from Canada. I’ll be contributing to the new Sea-Doo blog with my personal adventures and opinions. I ride about 100 hours each season. That usually works out to between 2,500 to 3,000 kilometres (1,500 to 1,800 miles) of sheer pleasure!

I’ve been riding Sea-Doo watercraft since the ‘90’s. I started out as a cottager who got one for playing on my lake. But I quickly realized how much more my Sea-Doo would add to my summer if I went exploring.

As an avid snowmobiler, I’m used to exploring new places and visiting different destinations in winter. Doing the same each summer on my Sea-Doo just came naturally. Especially when my snowmobiler wife said that she wanted to go out on the water with me. So using our Ontario cottage as a base, most of our PWC riding is now day trips and overnight tours to other waterways. Boy is it a blast!

So when you read my blog postings, remember where I’m coming from: I’m a touring Sea-Doo rider into destination cruising, not a gear head, racer or casual weekender. Previously, my wife and I have each had our own Sea-Doo GTX 155’s (she drives her own sled too). This summer, we wanted to try the full iControl package with suspension. Our new 2011 models are a GTX iS 215 and a RTX iS 260. I’ll tell you more about the measurable differences they make to our riding fun in my upcoming blog postings.

And don’t worry if many of my adventures take place in Ontario. No matter where you live, I’ll provide practical cruising and touring advice and tips. You can use this info to expand your Sea-Doo playground in ways you may have only dreamed of until now.  Talk to you next time!

Behind the Scenes – 2012 Sea-Doo Photo/Video Shoot – Part One

BRP goes to great efforts to show our recreational products in their environment in unique ways but also to capture the passion and lifestyle related to the brand. World class photographers and videographers capture Sea-Doo in their environment – and sometime out of it – to produce true art that evokes emotion. There may be imagery in Sea-Doo promotional materials that you wonder, “How did they do that?”  This is the first of two behind the scenes peaks at the 2012 Sea-Doo Photo Shoot. We can’t show you the really GOOD STUFF yet, but this will give you a taste. Come back in a couple weeks to see the real behind the scenes action and what it takes to capture the essence of Sea-Doo!

Your Favorite Sea-Doo Beach

What is your Favorite Beach? Every Sea-Doo owner has a favorite beach. One of the joys of boating is getting away from the crowd, or it could be to join the crowd, either way your access to beautiful and fun beaches is exponentially increased with a Sea-Doo watercraft or boat.

Your favorite beach could be a, “disappearing island” that comes and goes with the tide. Your favorite beach could be next to your local launch ramp or it could be beside your local launch ramp or a hidden strip of sand that only a few know about and can only be reached with a Sea-Doo watercraft or boat.

There are also many reasons you like that particular beach. Regardless of why a location is your favorite, the fact you get there by Sea-Doo makes it all the more special. We would like to build a collection of favorite beaches with a brief description of where it is and why it is the perfect Sea-Doo Beach. So please share!
