BRP takes luxury riding to the next level with the introduction of the Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300. The combination of increased power and efficiency of the new 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine with the advanced ergonomics of the Ergolock seat deliver a confidence inspiring ride allowing you to push your limits even further. This year all GTX models receive the new Ergolock seat with stepped design and the second generation of the intuitive Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) system for an added level of control adding more value to the most full-featured luxury models in the watercraft industry.

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine engine - Static4

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine Engine

The new Rotax 1630 ACE engine is the most powerful engine ever produced by Rotax with a 15% power increase creating 300 hp, providing better acceleration and more mid-range power1. With increased intake air boost, improved cooling system and new ignition timing for the larger fuel injectors, the new Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 elevates performance in the luxury segment.

In addition to the development of the new Rotax 1630 ACE engine, BRP applies the latest ergonomic science to perfect the rider position with the new Ergolock seat with stepped design on all GTX models in 2016. The Ergolock seat provides all riders a full body connection with the watercraft and a more natural position for more comfortable touring and confident cornering. The Ergolock seat design is sculpted to the riders’ bodies with a narrower section between the knees slightly widening towards the rear. The stepped-seating implements rising seating levels for better passenger vision with added lumbar cushioning providing added support for up to three riders that hold them in place better in all conditions.

The third major improvement for 2016 is all Sea-Doo GTX models will be equipped with the new second-generation iBR that improves on the intuitive iBR braking system with a more responsive activation and faster braking. The Sea-Doo iBR system introduced in 2009 is the first and only braking system recognized by the United States Coast Guard for contributing to recreational boating safety and stops the Sea-Doo watercraft close to 48.75 m (160-feet)2 sooner than the same watercraft not using a braking system. The new iBR system adds to the rider centric design approach providing unmatched control at speed and during tight quarter manoeuvring.

The GTX segment rides on the exclusive S3 hull (Stepped, Stable, Strong) that provides better wave penetration for a more stable ride and also offers the industry’s only suspension options on select models for the most comfortable ride available.

  • 2016 Sea-Doo 300-HP watercraft models generate buzz among crowd

Valcourt, Québec, October 19, 2015 – BRP (TSX:DOO) added a fifth consecutive Pro Open class title to its historic IJSBA World Finals championship count this year. The event, attended by the top riders in the world, helped usher in a new era of performance dominance with 2016 Sea-Doo 300-HP watercraft models.

Kasza wins his first Pro Open World Championship

Kasza György wins his first Pro Open World Championship on his modified Sea-Doo RXP-X.

Much of the buzz entering this year’s IJSBA World Finals in Lake Havasu City, AZ, was the launch of the 2016 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 and RXT-X 300 models, and how they are poised to be the next dominant models in watercraft racing. After the weeklong event, the buzz became a roar to accompany the roar of the crowd after Hungarian, Kasza György, claimed his first Pro Open World Championship aboard a Sea-Doo RXP-X.

“The entire Sea-Doo team is extremely proud to continue our racing on the RXP-X by taking home the premier Pro Open world title for the fifth straight year,” said Julie Tourville, Global Marketing Director, Sea-Doo watercraft. “We congratulate Kasza György and his team on their win, and we’re excited about the future as the new 300-HP Sea-Doo models make their way to starting lines in 2016.”

The 2016 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 and RXT-X 300 come equipped with a new ROTAX 1630 ACE engine that is bigger, stronger and more efficient than before. That, together with the new Ergolock system, allows riders to enjoy more performance, confidence and greater control to push limits even further.

A new era in lower horsepower classes has begun as well, as Thailand’s Nopphadon Sapmunsaerr claimed the first Pro-Am Runabout 1000 Superstock title on a modified Sea-Doo SPARK. This is the first world championship for the SPARK, which was introduced in 2015, in a class that has been dominated by late model Sea-Doo SPX models for the past 10+ years.

SEADOO-BOUNTY_bushell-on-rightMulti-time world champion James Bushell won the $1,000 #SeaDooNEXTLEVEL Bounty Invitational in a head-to-head, three-lap race aboard identical 2016 RXT-X 300 models against New Zealand’s Carl Lampe. Bushell, who is from the UK, also finished second in both Pro Open and Pro GP classes on his Sea-Doo RXP-X.

SEADOO-ownersride1In connection with the IJSBA World Finals was the Sea-Doo Ultimate Owners Ride V that drew 94 participants. Sea-Doo owners were led on a 45+ mile round trip from Site 6 launch ramp in Lake Havasu City, AZ, under the historic London Bridge and up the Colorado River to Pirate Cove Resort and Marina in Topock, CA. Riders from as far as Ontario and Denmark took part.

Screen Shot 2013-08-13 at 11.13.59 AMThe P1 AquaX series is relatively new to the world of personal watercraft racing but long overdue.  It’s a new style of watercraft competition for sea-riding enthusiasts who want to try watercraft racing but with out having to modify their Sea-Doo watercraft and competing in a relatively safe endurance style event. This weekend marks the third round of the US AquaX series taking place in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Powerboat P1 is the company behind the AquaX series. The company has a rich history in promoting powerboat racing, which includes hosting over 85 world championship events in their 9 years of business. After acquiring the rights to the successful Formula Four-Stroke championships in 2009, they turned their attentions to building a low cost, powerboat racing series powered by Evinrude starting in the UK. By 2010, the series was rebranded to P1 Superstock and they launched the ‘Grand Prix of the Sea’, a festival of watersports touring high profile venues across the country.

Screen Shot 2013-08-13 at 11.15.26 AMAquaX take its place alongside the Superstock boat series on the itinerary of events in what veteran watercraft racers are saying is the most professionally organized racing today. And as with SuperStock, P1’s interest in watercraft competition is based on building a sport from the ground up, hence AquaX is unlike any watercraft competition that’s gone before and is specifically geared towards attracting amateur riders to come along and have a go! And who knows, you just might become the next AquaX champion!

Whatever your Sea-Doo watercraft there’s a class for everyone

 So what’s it all about?
Sea-Doo Racers prepare for the Lake Okeechobee Aqua X Race

Sea-Doo Racers prepare for the Lake Okeechobee Aqua X Race

AquaX is an exciting coastal challenge that offers a completely new experience for personal watercraft enthusiasts. Unlike other watercraft competition where the majority of racing takes place inland and usually on technical tracks, AquaX events take place on the sea and large bodies of water. And because of the ever-changing coastal conditions, the rider’s skill prevails over horsepower, thus creating a level playing field for all.

The courses are big, but fun to ride, giving the competitors the chance to open up their throttles and enjoy the full performance of their craft in a safe and controlled environment. The courses also provide a real sense of achievement for those who complete the task.

The championship is made up of a series of events where competitors earn points towards overall championship titles. Competitors must take part in practice plus two races over the course of each event. The races take place on the Superstock boat courses, which are approximately 1.8nm long, and 30 – 40 minutes plus 1 lap in duration. No need to worry about getting lost, as the tracks are monitored by a highly trained crew of waterborne marshals ensuring everyone’s safety is paramount.

Screen Shot 2013-08-13 at 11.15.42 AMAquaX split into 3 categories – 200hp – where the Sea-Doo GTI SE 155 and GTX 155 are the preferred models -250hp – where the Sea-Doo GTR 215 and GTX 215 fair well and 300hp that feature the Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260, Sea-Doo RXT-X, and Sea-Doo RXP-X – to accommodate huge diversity in engine displacements. Two-Stroke craft and naturally aspirated four-stroke craft under 180hp will qualify to compete in the 200hp, whereas the 250hp & 300hp classes will be reserved for the more powerful supercharged four-strokes of today. Craft may be modified, however four-stroke craft must remain stock as from the manufacturer, with the exception of handling modifications. Full details of the technical rules can be found in the AquaX rulebook available to download at AquaX Rule Book
