Orlando, Florida August 16, 2016 – BRP offers more performance watercraft options with two new 2017 Sea-Doo models  including the high value GTR 230 and new GTR-X 230 with Ergolock system. Both models will be powered by the new 230-hp Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine and join the RXT 260, RXT-X 300 and RXP-X 300 to further strengthen the strongest performance line-up in the watercraft industry.

The new Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 watercraft becomes the most affordable X-model (extra performance) and is powered by the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine that will push this new watercraft from idle to 60 mph (96,6 km/h) in 5.3 seconds, which is 2.4 seconds quicker than the closest competitive model1. The new GTR-X 230 model receives the complete Ergolock system that includes the Ergolock seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar, and angled footwell wedges. The Ergolock seat allows riders to hold onto the watercraft better by using their stronger leg muscles to squeeze the narrower seat, thus improving control and reducing upper body fatigue for a more confidence inspiring ride to push riding limits even further.

Powering the Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 and GTR 230 models is new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine, designed with the Advanced Combustion Efficiency philosophy producing 15 more horsepower than its predecessor while maintaining minimal mass for strong power-to-weight performance. The advances in thermal dynamic cooling and overall refinement in the 1500 HO ACE engine elevates the nimble handling of the GTR platform to the next level of value-minded performance watercraft.

The new 230-hp Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine follows the 300-hp 1630 ACE engine innovation, including the plasma-coating technology for aluminum-block engines developed by a Rotax team in Gunskirchen, Austria. The plasma coating technology is a thermal spraying process that deposits a protective coating on engine cylinder walls to create a metallic layer that provides a hard and durable surface to withstand piston friction forces. It improves surface durability, while keeping the engine lighter and more compact with better heat transfer and superior performance, and reduced use of chemicals.

The Rotax ACE, or Advanced Combustion Efficiency, engines implement advancements in combustion and cooling efficiency that produce substantially more power without adding mass. The ACE philosophy aids the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE in producing 15 more horsepower power than the previous version to provide strong power-to-weight performance and is optimized for regular fuel resulting in more money saved at the gas station. While the new engine produces 15 more horsepower than its predecessor, fuel consumption remains on par. Adding to the innovation, the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE follows in the wake of it’s big brother, the Rotax 1630 ACE engine, with a maintenance free* supercharger.

All 2017 Sea-Doo performance models are equipped with the second-generation Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR), the intuitive braking system that reduces the stopping distance by nearly 160 feet (48.75 m) sooner2 than deceleration without braking. The Sea-Doo iBR is the first and only braking system recognized by the USCG (U.S. Coast Guard) since 2009 for contributing to recreational boating safety and adds to the rider-centric design approach providing maximum control in all conditions. The 2017 Sea-Doo performance models also include race-inspired features such as high-performance Variable Trim System (VTS), handlegrips with palm rest and race-inspired coloration and graphics.

The GTR-X 230 with Ergolock system allows the rider to connect with the watercraft to become one with it, allowing the rider to push the limits even further. The narrower, lower body-molded seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar, and angled footwell wedges, provide added leverage in aggressive cornering and are equally beneficial in connecting to the watercraft in choppy, open-water, straight-line riding. Adding to rider control and confidence is the second-generation iBR that reduces the stopping distance of the watercraft by nearly 160 feet (48.75 m) and the Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) with three power delivery modes including Touring, Sport, and ECO to best match the riding activity. The 2017 Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 delivers the best of watercraft high-performance and high-value.

2017 SEA-DOO GTR 230

This model is based on the nimble yet predictable handling of the GTI platform while offering more power from the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine for a superior power-to-weight ratio. The GTR 230 watercraft is also fully equipped with the Sea-Doo iControl technologies including the iTC and second-generation iBR system, providing added control in tight quarter situations and allowing the rider to stop sooner for greater peace of mind. 2017 SEA-DOO RXP-X 300

The Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft is the most decorated performance model in recent racing history, claiming the past five Pro Open and Pro GP World Championships. The 2017 RXP-X is the industry’s undisputed king of closed-course racing and boosts the industry’s best power-to-weight ratio thanks to the 300-horsepower Rotax 1630 ACE engine. The Rotax 1630 ACE power package provides greater mid-range power for better cornering speed and produces over 1G during hole shot acceleration from a stop.

2017 RXP-X 300

The T3 hull design offers one-of-a-kind handling allowing the RXP-X 300 model to aggressively lean into corners and penetrate chop better than any of its two-seater counterparts. T3 stands for “tight-turning T-hull” and uses an advanced, dual-running surface hull design with a unique combination of soft and hard chines, adjustable rear sponsons and performance trim tabs. The T3 hull combined with the Ergolock system allows the rider to lean further into corners, using more of the available power, with greater confidence and less effort to turn tighter and faster.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 also includes the intuitive second-generation iBR providing the only braking system available on a high-performance two-seater for an enhanced level of rider control. The Sea-Doo RXP-X model has set the standard for precise handling and in 2017 is available in Lava Red and the modern Monolith Black Satin coloration or race-inspired White and Dayglow Yellow. No watercraft turns like the 2017 RXP-X 300 and no watercraft is as fun and rewarding as when pushing your riding limits further on the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300.

2017 SEA-DOO RXT-X 300

The combination of the Rotax 1630 ACE engine power and advanced ergonomics of the Ergolock system delivers a confidence-inspiring ride allowing you to push your limits even further on the 2017 Sea-Doo RXT-X 300. The 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine delivers more torque providing more mid-range power to help maintain momentum when riding through heavy chop where the jet pump is continually reengaging with the water. The Rotax ACE power package provides greater throttle response in all conditions and is the most powerful engine ever offered in a Sea-Doo watercraft.

2017 Sea-Doo RXT-X 300

The 2017 RXT-X 300 integrates the race-proven Sea-Doo Ergolock system that allows the rider to connect with the watercraft better and use his entire body to hold on rather than only the upper-body, thus improving confidence and reducing upper body fatigue. The Ergolock seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar and angled footwell wedges, benefit in aggressive cornering and open-water, straight-line riding. The added ability for the rider to feel better connected to the RXT-X 300 delivers better control and less fatigue allowing the rider to utilize the available power more efficiently.

The performance three-seater provides wet storage under Sea-Doo’s exclusive removable watertight storage bin for a total storage capacity of 42.8 US gallons (162 liters)  including an ultra large glove box. The technical flowing edge designed top deck of the RXT-X model is complimented by the functionality of the stable and predictable S3 hull with adjustable rear sponsons. The RXT-X 300 watercraft is equipped with race-specific features including, digital infocenter with integrated lap timer and boost indicator and high-performance Variable Trim System (VTS). Orlando, Florida August 16, 2016 – BRP has revamped the 2017 Sea-Doo GTI family of watercraft to offer unbeatable price-value as the most affordable, and most fuel-efficient full-size watercraft in the industry. New for 2017, the Sea-Doo GTS, GTI and GTI SE models will be offered with the compact Rotax 900 HO ACE engine and the lightweight and scratch and impact-resistant Polytec hull material.

2017 Sea-Doo GTI SE

The Sea-Doo GTS and GTI models become the most affordable full-size watercraft with lower price points than the previous years comparable packages.  A 30% increase in fuel efficiency contributes to greater cost savings 1, thanks in part  to the lightweight hull being constructed of BRP’s exclusive Polytec material.. Further reducing the weight and lending to the Sea-Doo GTS and GTI models having the lowest fuel consumption in the industry among all full-size watercraft is the Rotax 900 HO ACE engine. The compact 900 HO ACE ensures watercraft riders make the most of their day by riding longer with less fuel stops.

If there were two words to describe the Sea-Doo GTI watercraft family, it would be versatility and value. The GTI models are good at nearly everything a family would like to do on the water and continue to offer best-in-class technologies including  the second-generation Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) system. It is the first and only braking system recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard for its contribution to increase recreational boating safety since 2009, and helps the watercraft stop nearly 160 feet (48.75 m) sooner2. The GTI 130 model also slows to 5 mph (8 km/h) from 50 mph (80.5 km/h) in 34.4 feet and 0.5 seconds sooner than competitive models according to Boating Magazine testing.3

BRP is a pioneer in watercraft design from construction to color. The Sea-Doo Recreation segment conveys BRP’s advanced design philosophies through contemporary flowing facet styling and trendsetting coloration. The energy of the Recreation family is conveyed by vibrant colors such as the new Sunrise Orange on the GTI SE models, Manta Green on the GTI model and Orange Crush on the GTS model. Staying true to the versatility of the recreation models, classic Black is the second color option on the GTI SE models while Jet Black Metallic and Deep Pewter Satin dress the GTI Limited 155 model.

BRP’s Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) function features activity-specific power delivery options including Touring, Sport, and ECO modes. The GTI platform also provides a class-leading 30.8 US gallons (116.6 liters) of storage space and best-in-class fuel economy with BRP’s ECO Mode available on all models. ECO Mode automatically determines the most economical power delivery and sets the optimal RPM for greatest fuel economy so riders spend extra time, not extra money, on the water.

The GTI platform also incorporates many ergonomic features designed for rider comfort. BRP’s exclusive inward-angled footwell floors keep the rider’s lower legs/feet in-line reducing ankle fatigue, and the handlegrips come with palm rests enhancing comfort and reducing forearm fatigue. These many exclusive Sea-Doo innovations and features make the GTI family  unbeatable in price-value among full-size watercraft offerings in the industry.

The past summer is sure to have provided you and your family a lifetime of Sea-Doo memories. Weekends on the water are what make the Sea-Doo life so fun . To help ensure the fun is maximized, here are some post ride basic maintenance tips. Most of your fun happens on the water but even with the splish, splashing excitement your Sea-Doo can build up grime and debris over a period of time.

Keep your Sea-Doo clean.

Keep your Sea-Doo clean.

To help keep your Sea-Doo looking its best it’s important to clean it and take the proper care after you ride. BRP’s XPS products are specially developed to ensure your Sea-Doo looks its best and is running at optimal levels. The XPS PWC Cleaning and Detailing Kit (part # 219701715) is a complete package of everything you will need to keep your Sea-Doo watercraft as clean as possible and to ensure you are the envy of all the boaters on your waterways.

Water alone can’t remove all of the grime and debris you may collect over time on the water and/or during the drive home while trailering. The XPS PWC Cleaning and Detailing Kit includes; all purpose cleaner, vinyl cleaner, spray cleaner & polish, 2 microfiber towels, a deluxe wash sponge and bucket.

Lubricate and protect met laic parts and electrical connections

Lubricate and protect metalic parts and electrical connections

After cleaning and drying your sea-Doo, be sure to protect the metallic parts and connection points. BRP’s XPS Lube (part #293600016) one of the most versatile lubricants available and ideal for misting key components and moving parts to help minimize corrosion and ensure all moving parts move with ease. Refer to your owners manual for areas and components to lubricate and how.

Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 – Designing The Ultimate Performance Watercraft

Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 – the Future of Design and Functionality

When the word “design” is discussed in the recreational products industry BRP is usually one of the first companies mentioned in the discussion. BRP’s advanced concepts and innovation team is world renown for shaping the future of recreational vehicles and has been doing this in the personal watercraft industry for over 25 years. The Sea-Doo watercraft line has set the standard in visual appeal and functionality for the past three decades and never has that been truer than in 2014.

The word ‘design’ is generally used to describe how something looks but it is much more than that. Design also describes how things fit and move together. In the realm of vehicles, ergonomics play a significant role in what defines a good design or a not so good design. This is where BRP’s design and innovation teams excel, melding function with fashion to the tune of countless design and innovation awards and hundreds of thousands of happy Sea-Doo owners.

The Sea-Doo line-up includes 16 models, one to fit every watersport enthusiasts’ needs in delivering ultimate fun on the water. Five segments including Rec Lite, Recreation, Tow Sports, Luxury and Performance help define the Sea-Doo model mix. With every big family there is always the ‘athlete’, the chiseled body of muscle, fleet of foot, and always the one you want on your team. In the Sea-Doo watercraft family the star athlete is the Sea-Doo RXP-X 260.

2014 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260

2014 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260

The Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 is the family member with a trophy case full of first place hardware. The Sea-Doo RXP-X is the epitome of high-performance on the water with a powerful high-output supercharged engine pushing the watercraft from 0-30 mph in approximately two seconds but what really makes it stand out from the crowd is that it looks fast sitting still.

When the BRP design team decides to develop a new vehicle they define the personality of that vehicle and research hundreds of other products to gain inspiration. The team looks at animals, cars, airplanes, but also consumer products such as shoes, watches, and electronics. Some of the more notable inspirations for the RXP-X were stealth fighter jets and sharks.

The Intricate 'flowing facet' design gives the RXP-X a distinctly exclusive visual appeal.

The Intricate ‘flowing facet’ design gives the RXP-X a distinctly exclusive visual appeal.

The design philosophy for all curent Sea-Doo watercraft is referred to as ‘flowing facet’ design. This direction utilizes flat surfaces joined together to create a collective shape that flows from bow to stern. The Sea-Doo RXP-X integrates a much more complex collection of surfaces than the GTI family for instance to capture the true advanced design of a performance machine and to provide the ominous visual presence of the watercraft with greater detail.

The shape itself resembles a bull, with a powerful, muscular front half with a more sleek middle section and rear half. The RXP-X’s stance is that of a bull ready to charge. Every level of detail of the RXP-X exudes exclusivity. Some of these exclusive design details include; the transparent hood brow with RXP-X emblem underneath, dual air scoops and the mesh side accents among many more. The visual dynamics earned the Sea-Doo RXP-X the coveted Red Dot Design award among many other distinctions but as mentioned earlier, on a recreational vehicle, fashion has to equally meld with function.

Perhaps the most innovative design element of the Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 is the one you can’t see when on the water, the T3 hull. The T3 hull stands for tight-turning and outstanding tracking through chop. The design includes three distinctive elements that provide handling closer to a high performance street bike than a traditional watercraft.

Exclusive T3 Hull

Exclusive T3 Hull

The hull running surface is a bi-level or multi-staged design with a center pad that drops down roughly 2-inches from the main surface to provide a narrower running pad to cut through chop better while holding its line. The second level provides more lateral surface area aiding in low speed stability. The outside side chines are ‘soft’ or curved rather than ‘hard’ chines with defined angles found on all other sit-down models. The soft chine allows the watercraft to be leaned over further to corner tighter and reduce lateral stress on the driver. The third main design difference of the T3 hull is the aggressive, deep-V keel of the bow with integrated spray deflection elements that provides precise cornering and also minimize bow lowering during heavy deceleration.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X T3 hull provides a very different handling experience that calls for a different manner for the rider to connect to the watercraft and this is why the Ergolock system was developed in unison. The challenge with modern performance watercraft is how to maximize the performance from a rider perspective, how can the rider access the true potential of the watercraft for an extended period of time? Most performance watercraft place a tremendous strain on the rider’s upper body as most competitive models have relatively large, wide seats placing most of the strain on the upper body causing rapid fatigue.

The angled footwell and narrow seat of the Ergolock system.

The angled footwell and narrow seat of the Ergolock system.

The Sea-Doo Ergolock system moves the rider forward of the engine allowing a narrower seat to be utilized with an integrated cushioned flair in the seat over the riders knees and combined with an inward angled footwell, that naturally cambers the rider’s knees into the seat allowing the rider to utilize the strongest muscles in the body to help hold on better during tight turning. Combined with the AES (Adjustable Ergonomic Steering) system the rider can tap into the true performance potential of the Sea-Doo RXP-X staying on the power longer into turns and earlier coming out with less fatigue.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 is the most advanced performance watercraft on the water setting the benchmark in melding fashion and function. The striking flowing facet design provides the detailed look demanded by go fast enthusiasts while the T3 hull and Ergolock system help the rider reach his goals and the RXP-X’s true performance potential. The RXP-X 260 continues the Sea-Doo heritage of setting new benchmarks in design and functionality and is the ultimate performance watercraft.

ERIC LAGOPOULOS WINS THE JACKSONVILLE ROUND OF AQUAX ON HIS SEA-DOO GTR 215

ERIC LAGOPOULOS WINS THE JACKSONVILLE ROUND OF AQUAX ON HIS SEA-DOO GTR 215

Eric Lagopoulos continued his 2014 unbeaten streak in the AQUAX 250 class by sweeping all three mottos on his Sea-Doo GTR 215 taking his season total to six consecutive moto wins. Lagopoulos was joined on the podium by fellow GTR 215 mounted racers Sean Hagan taking second and Tim McKercher rounding out the top three.  The Sea-Doo GTR 215 is arguably the watercraft industry’s best keep performance secret as BRP‘s lowest price performance model that is fast with predictable handling yet very forgiving in unpredictable conditions. The GTR 215 model is proving itself as the ultimate mid-range performance watercraft.

The P1 AQUAX racing series continues to grow in popularity as the second round of the US tour took center stage near downtown Jacksonville, Florida in front of an estimated 10,000 race fans over the weekend. After the season opener in the surf of Daytona Beach in April the watercraft racers joined the Evinrude powered Superstock boats for a full throttle weekend of boating competition. The large 1.8 mile track on the St. Johns River provided a good arena for close handlebar-to-handlbar action in a series where the competitors compete on nearly out-of-the-box stock watercraft that places more emphasis on rider ability and stamina than other forms of watercraft racing where modifications play a more significant role.  Sea-Doo racers have extra incentive for top finishes at the AQUAX races with extra prize money available to them through the Sea-Doo Bounty racer contingency program, the program that will reward Lagopoulos an extra $250 from BRP for his win.

LAGOPOULOS IN MOTO 1

Lagopoulos on pace for a moto 1 win in Jacksonville on his Sea-Doo GTR 215

“The Sea-Doo GTR 215 compliments my riding style and is really fun to ride and race, plus its fast,” said Jacksonville winner Lagopoulos. “I’m looking forward to see if I ride my GTR 215 to the top of the podium at next months round three stop in Tampa, which is basically a hometown race being only 30 minutes north of my home in Sarasota.”

BRP’s Sea-Doo X-TEAM racers are preparing to follow the most successful World Finals efforts in the history of the IJSBA World Finals with on boxing new 2014 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 watercraft. BRP continues to lead the industry in racing support with the Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty racer contingency program and Sea-Doo X-TEAM race promoter support program ensuring racers have events to compete. Following a dominating 2013 season world-wide, the long list of who’s-who of racing champions is looking forward to challenging for 2014 titles aboard the most popular performance watercraft on the market, the Sea-Doo RXP-X.

bushThe 2014 season has already started off strong for Sea-Doo X-TEAM riders James Bushell and James Masterton have already collected prestigious wins.  Bushell collect his third consecutive double-double world championship effort aboard his 158/performance/Sea-Doo Centre backed RXP-X and for that was voted Pro Rider Magazine’s Best Runabout Racer of the Year. ^ World Champion * World Finals Podium

When the world wants to win, the world rides Sea-Doo watercraft.

All of these riders will have an almost unfair advantage by riding the new Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft.

The 2014 Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 model is the ideal watercraft for closed course racers and performance enthusiasts. It continues to build its performance legacy with a new Viper Red color, ominous visual appeal, ingenious hull design and ergonomics that allow riders to realize 100% of their riding potential. The T3 hull design allows the RXP-X 260 model to aggressively lean into corners and penetrate chop better than any of its two-seater counterparts. T3 stands for “tight-turning t-hull” and uses an advanced, dual surface hull design with a unique combination of soft and hard chines, dual axis adjustable rear sponsons and performance trim tabs. This allows the rider to lean further into corners, turning tighter and faster, leaving the competition’s two-seaters in its wake.

The revolutionary Ergolock system integrates a narrowing, body-molded racing seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) system and angled footwell wedges, all complementing the lean-in characteristics. With the A.E.S. system, the rider can adjust the handlebar width and grip angle for a perfect upper body connection. The unique RXP-X 260 seat form-fits the rider’s legs, alleviating upper body strain in hard turns, using the leg muscles to lock the rider into the machine, and ultimately the water, better than any other two-seater.

BRP’s Intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR) and Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) systems complete the picture and make the 2014 RXP-X 260 the most feature- and technology-rich two-seater in high-performance watercraft history.

The 2014 Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty racer contingency program will be announced in the coming weeks with bigger payouts and bonuses.
