BRP’s Sea-Doo watercraft have been selected to ensure the safety of participants during Red Bull Storm Chase 2012 windsurfing events around the world.

Red Bull Storm Chase brings together ten of the world’s best windsurfers to compete in what promises to be the roughest conditions on the planet. Three adrenaline-fuelled rounds will be held between now and November in any of seven stormy locations across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.

“This partnership with Red Bull is an exciting opportunity for BRP, enabling us to showcase Sea-Doo watercraft and its acclaimed Intelligent Brake & Reverse technology (iBR) – the only braking technology in the industry.” said Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager of BRP’s International division.

BRP and Red Bull have a shared passion for community, fun and adventure and a common quest to make good days great. Marking the first worldwide collaboration between the two companies, BRP is supplying Sea-Doo watercraft at the three Red Bull events, leveraging the global reach of its dealer and distribution network.

“We are pleased that BRP has come on board as an official partner at this year’s Red Bull Storm Chase. It is critical that we have the right processes and support in place when confronted with some of the toughest weather conditions around to ensure the contest remains under control,” said Klaas Voget, Sports Director for Red Bull Storm Chase 2012. “With BRP’s Sea-Doo PWC on hand, we are prepared for some huge waves.”

“BRP’s Sea-Doo watercraft have been recognized and used by worldwide organizations such as the French Red Cross, the US Cost Guard, the Australian water police authorities and Surf life saving as they facilitate and improve the safety of their rescue operations,” added Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, BRP North American division.

National Safe Boating Week is May 19-25, and we are, and always have been, committed to boater safety.

In 2009, BRP received a Boating Safety Award from the United States Coast Guard office of Auxillary and Boating Safety for their commitment to improving boating safety with the introduction of the industry’s first, and only, electronically controlled hand-braking and reverse system, the iBR™ (intelligent Brake and Reverse), on two of its Sea-Doo watercraft models. Sea-Doo remains the only manufacturer to offer this on-water braking system and it is now a standard feature in every 2012 Sea-Doo watercraft category.

BRP’s 2012 Sea-Doo boats deliver more versatility, more performance and more standard features which translate into superior value, greater peace-of-mind and a safer boating experience. All Sea-Doo boats are equipped with BRP’s direct drive jet propulsion system which provides numerous benefits over traditional stern drives. They are: direct power for maximum responsiveness, faster time to plane, less draft for shallow water operation, added safety with no exposed sharp objects, and new, optional weedless system on select Sea-Doo models.

Don’t forget to Wear it! and wear your PFD (personal floatation device) at all times while enjoying the water.

Here are a few boating safety tips to keep in mind this boating season:

  • -No matter what activity you have planned – boating, fishing sailing, etc. – always remember to wear a life jacket every time you are on the water.
  • -Make sure your life jacket is U.S. Coast Guard-approved and properly fits. Double check that your life jacket is appropriate for your favorite boating activities.
  • -Life jackets meant for adults do not work for children. If you are boating with children, make sure they are wearing properly fitted, child-sized life jackets. Do not buy a life jacket for your child to “grow into.”

Whether it is during National Safe Boating Week or the rest of the year, you can depend on Sea-Doo watercraft and boats to provide a safe and fun boating experience.

Universal Basic PFD (US)

With summer almost here, families and friends are eager to get outdoors and spend time on the water – boating, fishing, sailing and more. But, with approximately 500 people drowning each year from recreational boating accidents, it is imperative to push the message of “Wear It!”: wear your life jacket at all times while you are on the water.

Ladies Airflow PFD

The National Safe Boating Council, in partnership with the Canadian Safe Boating Council, invite boating safety professionals, the boating community and the media to participate in “Ready, Set, Wear It!” on Saturday, May 19. Participants in cities around the globe will gather to set a world record for the most life jackets worn and inflatable life jackets inflated. The goal is not only to promote the comfortable and versatile options when it comes to life jackets, but also to educate the public about life jackets and safe boating in general.

Men's Airflow PFD (US)

Last year, 1,685 people gathered at more than 99 events held around the world to set a new record for the number of participants who inflated their inflatable life jacket or wore an inherently buoyant life jacket.

Sea-Doo has a full line of Personal Floatation Devices (PFD)s from our Universal Basic PFD  to the Men’s Airflow PFD.  Not to leave out

the  ladies, we have the Ladies Motion PFD as well as a Ladies Airflow and other choices.  Our children’s line of PFDs includes the popular Kids SandSea and more.
