We consider ourselves lucky at Sea-Doo. Not only do we get to share the most fun experience you can have on the water with our fans, but also get to do this on a global scale. Everyday we receive amazing shots from Sea-Doo watercraft owners telling us their favorite locations to ride. And, with summer in just a couple of weeks, we thought it was the perfect time to share them. So, the next time you’re thirsty for a different kind of get-away, consider a new destination that’s popular among the Sea-Doo family!

A major river of Quebec at 160km (100 mi), Maxime’s ride gets him from starting point to end where he can pull the throttle or use touring mode to soak in the views.

KitLoganWells-SkagwayAlaskaAlaska is known for having some of the greatest glacier views, and Kit Logan Wells’ shots from Skagway show just some of the sights from his Sea-Doo watercraft.

Of course, we can’t forget our friends down south of the equator. And, while they’re just coming into their winter months. Our fans in Australia are known to ride all year long now matter how chilly it gets. Jeffrey Priddis gives us a little look at his ride in the quaint, coastal town of Mylestom in New South Wales, Australia.

JEREMIEHADJIBEYLI-WAKE-FrenchPolynesia

Sea-Doo WAKE 155 owner Jeremie Hadjibeyli rides an incredibly unique island. Raiatea, known as The Sacred Island in French Polynesia is centrally located and the protected lagoon makes the island one of the best for water-sports.

Just one of the great benefits of owning a Sea-Doo watercraft is the lifetime of fun memories that you and your family will enjoy not to mention the ease of use that they provide. THEY SAID WHAT? Personalwatercraft.com reviewed the Sea-Doo WAKE 155 and commented that “many serious riders – particularly the wakeskate crowd – actually prefer a PWC over a monster tow boat. Why? PWC are certainly inexpensive, cheap to run, and easy to tow, but they’re also small and maneuverable. They get up close to obstacles without sending them rocking, deftly maneuver around hit-filled parks, and get into shallower areas where bigger towboats fear to tread.

2014 SEA-DOO WAKE 155_ACTION7The 2014 Sea-Doo WAKE models are designed to deliver years of watersports fun for families and professionals alike. BRP’s Sea-Doo WAKE watercraft offer unmatched versatility by providing a first-class pull and exhilarating ride perfect for both beginner and professional boarders, skaters and tow sport enthusiasts. Learning to ride behind an iControl technologies-equipped Sea-Doo watercraft is easier, less intimidating, and more economical than behind a traditional powerboat. Both WAKE models are available with the exclusive Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) system and include the exclusive speed-based Ski Mode to fit wake boarders’ and wake skaters’ needs. This exclusive feature is engineered to make every driver an expert driver with the ability to program the acceleration curve and target speed for a consistent, perfect pull every time.

The WAKE 155 model is ideal for the rider who tends to take short day trips on smaller bodies of water, is nimble, versatile in moderate chop and includes room for up to three riders. In addition to Ski mode, this model includes iControl and ECO mode. It features class-leading comfort and storage with 116.6 litres (30.8 US gallons) of usable space. The WAKE 155 comes equipped with a large swim platform with a fold-down reboarding step, mirrors, and the watercraft industry’s only WAKE package including; Ski mode, retractable ski pylon with three positions and spotter handles, removable board rack and exclusive WAKE graphics.

The 2014 Sea-Doo WAKE 155 is the preferred watercraft of Team Nike wake skater Nick Taylor. Taylor favors the WAKE 155 model for its economical operation and shallow water capabilities versus traditional boats and also its quick turnarounds and pick-ups thanks to the exclusive iBR system. Reliability is perhaps the most important standard feature for Taylor as he has amassed over 670 hours of saltwater use on his WAKE 155 watercraft over the past five years, an amount that would take the average owner over 19 years to accumulate.

Sea-Doo watercraft iBR features compliment unique Red Bull events

BRP has partnered with Red Bull in many water based events over the past ten years starting with the Red Bull Tow-At surf event in Sebastian, Florida where an elite group of East Coast surfers including Cory and Shay Lopez, CJ Hobgood, Josh Kerr among others were pulled at waves behind a Sea-Doo WAKE watercraft to pop off of wave faces at higher speeds in efforts to pull off big aerial tricks. The Tow-At events continue with Sea-Doo watercraft powering the way to help put the wind underneath their “wings”.

Red Bull is also deeply involved with Wake sports and Sea-Doo has been there during their biggest events as the only watercraft specifically designed for board sports. The Red Bull Depth Charge is arguably the most elaborate and unique Wakeboard events ever to be produced and Sea-Doo WAKE models were the preferred tow vehicles for several reasons. The depth charge event took place 185 feet below the earth’s surface in Bonne Terre, Missouri on the world’s largest underground lake.

Sea-Doo watercraft were used as the tow vehicles noted for their low emissions, necessary in the caves of the lake, and for their nimble handling and tight quarter control. The Sea-Doo watercraft were lowered from their nose by a cable to the water where they pulled 14 of the sports elite riders. Legendary Wakebaorder Parks Bonifay won that one time event and has since utilized Sea-Doo watercraft to wakeboard among icebergs and other extreme conditions that normal boats can not accomplish.

Red Bull also provides a launch pad for teams who want to test out their idea of how to fly during the Red Bull Flugtag events. Flugtag means, ”Flying Day” in their native Austrian tongue but what the contestants are permitted to use to construct their flying machines is limited. Each team builds their flying machine according to the strict rules and propels it off of a 30-foot tall platform in attempts to fly the furthest over water, completely by human power.

And when the Flugtag team plops in the water Sea-Doo watercraft are there to pull them out of the water and back to their adoring fans on land. The Red Bull event teams utilize Sea-Doo as their watercraft of choice mainly because of the iBR (intelligent Brake & Reverse) system that allows the rescue drivers to approach and attend to flyers with ultimate control.

Sea-Doo watercraft have also been utilized in the recent Red Bull Storm Chase where an elite group of kite surfers chase extreme weather conditions in efforts of the ultimate kite surfing session.

red bull download

Sea-Doo watercraft equipped with iBR and supercharged engines support to the windsurfers as they battle to stay on top of these massive waves. The competition is split into two parts in accordance with the main global storm seasons. Between January 10 and March 22, 2013, ten courageous windsurfers nominated via public voting were on standby to hunt down one massive storm at seven previously nominated destinations. Four of the original fleet were eliminated during the first mission in Brandon Bay, Ireland, at the end of January. From July 22, 2013, the six remaining windsurfers have been waiting for the second mission. Out of these six athletes, four emerged as qualifiers for the third and final mission to crown the victorious Red Bull Storm Chase Champion of 2013. To catch raging conditions, the participants have to be flexible-to-the-max during the holding period with just 48-hours to mobilize on-site before the next storm strikes.

Red Bull Storm Chase continues its mission of finding the most challenging waves to windsurf. Don’t miss the action clip of Mission #2 to Tasmania (Australia). This clip includes highlights from: Marcilio Browne (BRA), Daniel Bruch (GER), Victor Fernandez Lopez (ESP), Leon Jamaer (GER), Julien Taboulet (FRA), and Thomas Traversa (FRA) competing in hurricane-force winds and double mast-high waves.

SONY DSCWith the coming of spring in the northern hemisphere BRP is kicking off the 2013 riding season with SEA-DOO WAKE WEEK. The Sea-Doo Wake Week will begin on March 24 and run through March 31 with wake skating and wakeboarding inspired product highlights, images, and the premier of the 2013 Sea-Doo ‘DOO IT’ wake skate video series featuring NIKE Wake Team riders Ben Horan, Andrew Pastura, and Nick Taylor.

BRP and the Sea-Doo brand has long been part of the wake sports scene. Wakeboarding stepped into the action sports realm in 1991 when the sport was showcased on prime time television.  ESPN’s Hot Summer Nights featured the Pro Wakeboard and Kneeboard tour. The year prior the Sea-Doo GT was launched, the first three-seat watercraft capable of pulling skiers and wakeboarders and became the official personal watercraft of the Pro Wakeboard Tour to showcase the models’ towing capabilities.

Sea-Doo watercraft have helped the sport progress as PWC became the preferred tow vehicles with sliders and rails becoming more prevalent among enthusiasts.

In 2002 BRP was again a catalyst for the growth of a new watersport when wake skating began it’s rise in popularity. Wake skating brought a more technical way to ride a board behind a watercraft and massive engines and wakes were not required to have fun. A wake skate is similar to a wakeboard but without bindings.  It shares many of the characteristics of a skateboard, but riders ride the wake instead of a sidewalk. Sea-Doo watercraft were used by the sports pioneers, the Cassette wake skate team riders of Thomas Horrell, Aaron Reed, and Danny Hampson.

The Cassette team was heavily involved with the launch of the Sea-Doo Vans Triple Crown Edition Wake model watercraft in 2003 and now a decade later the next generation of world class wake skaters has teamed with BRP and utilizes Sea-Doo WAKE 155 and WAKE PRO 215 models, the NIKE Wake team.

The Sea-Doo WAKE model watercraft have significant advantages in shallow water access, ability to retrieve a downed boarder quickly, lower operating costs, and it is less intimidating for new riders.  All of these features make them the tow vehicle of choice among top pros and weekend water lovers alike.

The best wake skaters in the world, Ben Horan, Andrew Pastura, and Nick Taylor as well as wakeboarder Kevin Henshaw average over 250 hours a year on their Sea-Doo watercraft and we can’t think of anybody who tests them in real world towing applications more intensely than these riders.

Their input is used in the development and refinement of the Sea-Doo WAKE models such as the revised Ski Mode settings for 2013 offering a smoother transition in the RAMP settings.

During the 2013 Sea-Doo Wake Week visitors will gain insight on how these riders do their tricks behind Sea-Doo watercraft, you will learn about their gear and set up, and see their X-TEAM profile interviews.  Visit OnBoard regularly to see the latest news about the world of Sea-Doo.

BRP has been involved with the wake industry since the inception of the sport in the early ’90s by sponsoring the Bud Pro Wakeboard Tour to showcase the possibilities Sea-Doo watercraft had to offer. This commitment to the sport has lasted 20 years and is stronger today than ever before by simply being true to the sport. Taking the next step in support of the sport, BRP partnered with the fledgling NIKE 6.0 brand (that’s relative to the time) in 2009 to work with their young Pro wake skaters Nick Taylor, Ben Horan and Matt Manzarri.  Each of these talented trio was provided a Sea-Doo WAKE PRO watercraft to further their riding skills and abilities with an economical tow vehicle  that a late teen could afford, as well as to promote the abilities of the only watercraft specifically designed for board sports.  But the effort was not only to gain promotional value for the Sea-Doo brand, they also provided insights and suggestions.

The NIKE riders provided valuable product feedback and have contributed to new designs and technologies that have been implemented on current models and will be on future models. Since the initial partnership with these riders wake skater Andrew Pastura and Wakeboarder Kevin Henshaw have joined the Sea-Doo X-TEAM and ride behind their Sea-Doo WAKE 155 models year round. In-fact, between the five Sea-Doo WAKE watercraft utilized by the team riders they have amassed over 2900 hours per their info center hour meters. Their efforts help BRP make a better WAKE specific watercraft and boat for you.
