Orlando, FL., August 16, 2016 – BRP (TSX: DOO) continues to expand and improve its industry-leading watercraft lineup with the introduction of new Sea-Doo models and a new Rotax Advanced Combustion Efficiency (ACE) power plant. The 2017 Sea-Doo line introduces a new way to play with the Sea-Doo SPARK TRIXX, an unbeatable price-point with new GTS/GTI models and more performance in the mid-range with a GTR-X 230 powered by a new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine.

“The Sea-Doo watercraft line has never been stronger,” said Anne Bélec, SVP Global Brand, Communications and PAC at BRP. “By offering new models that continue to focus on rider needs such as affordability and efficiency, and of course fun, more people can find the right model for them and make the dream of owning a Sea-Doo watercraft a reality.”

The SPARK TRIXX model is the Sea-Doo watercraft that changes the game, and invents new ones, with features that leverage the light and nimble handling of the SPARK model to offer new ways to play on the water. The 2017 SPARK TRIXX model comes equipped with numerous innovations including handlebar with adjustable riser, step wedges and extended-range Variable Trim System (VTS), all of which help riders perform tricks like a pro.

2017 Sea-Doo GTS and GTI models are the lightest, most fuel-efficient and offer the greatest value of any full-size watercraft on the market. Each features a compact and efficient Rotax 900 HO ACE engine and lightweight and tough Polytec hull material, which has proven its performance and durability throughout the past three years in the industry’s best-selling model, the Sea-Doo SPARK watercraft.

Also new to the Sea-Doo lineup for 2017 is our Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine. Thanks to its ACE design, the 1500 HO ACE offers more mid-range performance, produces 15 more horsepower than the previous generation and is optimized for regular fuel instead of premium gas. This new engine also features a low-maintenance supercharger. The Rotax 1500 HO ACE powers the 2017 Sea-Doo GTR-X 230, as well as the GTR 230, WAKE PRO 230 and GTX Limited 230 models.

The Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 watercraft extends the brand’s X-package offering to a new model and includes the exclusive Ergolock system, which allows riders to better connect to the machine during riding.

Launch Ramps

We are anticipating approximately 90+ owners at this years ride so we suggest that owners plan appropriately to allow time to efficiently launch your Sea-Doo vessels. We suggest planning on launching by 8:00 AM to allow proper time to gather at the departure location, Site Six Launch Ramp. Site Six Launch Ramp space is limited in the number of trailers able to launch at one time so we suggest arriving as early as possible.

SITE SIX LAUNCH RAMP – Free Launch Ramp McCulloch Blvd. – On the Island over London Bridge

ALL Pre-Registrants are required to check in at the Thursday, October 6th registration event at Mudsharks Brewery.

Sea-Doo Ultimate Owners Ride VI – THE RIDE – The 2016 group ride will require all participants to ride responsibly and safely and understand the route and follow instructions. With the large number of participants in this year’s ride, it is very important that everybody practice safe riding and keep a minimum distance of 150’ from one another. This ride is approximately 50+ miles round-trip and requires ALL units to be COMPLETELY topped off with fuel for a safe and trouble free round trip ride.

Riding in a group requires that riders respect the space of others (maintain a minimum distance of 150-feet away from all other vessels while at speed) and run in a consistent, straight line. NEVER pass your flight leader. If you are planning to turn right, please look over your right shoulder before initiating the turn and vice-versa for left turns. If you are stopping please signal you are stopping by raising your off-throttle high over your head for those behind you before beginning to slow. ALL RIDERS MUST FOLLOW ALL USCG AND LOCAL BOATING LAWS AT ALL TIMES ON RIDE.

The Challenge of Racing the Sun, part of the Sea-Doo Life

Our time is valuable and limited and our free time is more of a premium. When we look to spend a fun filled day on the water we want to get the most out of it. We want to make every minute count. The challenge is how do we live the most minutes living the Sea-Doo life?

The sun is only up for so long in a day. To make the most of your day on a Sea-Doo watercraft some try to ride from sunrise to sunset, but how many actually accomplish that?

This is a day you are guaranteed to make the most of. Let’s take this a step farther. Let’s make it more interesting. What if you watched the sun come up over the horizon of the water and said, “Go” to your group of ride friends and rode all day racing the sun to sunset and watched the big ball of light sink into another horizon of the water?

This was the concept behind the latest Sea-Doo video challenge Racing the Sun.

One of the more interesting navigational treks in North America is the Okeechobee waterway that cuts through the lower half of Florida. This waterway offers a short cut for both pleasure and small commercial vessels bypassing a long trip around the southern peninsula and to make passage from Florida’s East coast at the city of Stuart, to the peninsula’s West coast at Fort Myers Beach. This waterway is a manmade passage managed by the Army Corp of Engineers and stretches more than 160 miles from east coast to west coast with the 30-mile wide Lake Okeechobee providing the open water middle point.

Most of the waterway consists of dredged canals measuring 100-150 meters wide and includes five locks, to control the water levels of the Okeechobee, which helps provide irrigation for millions of acres of sugarcane and citrus crops. The sights along the way are interesting to say the least as hundreds of species of wildlife can be seen as well as domesticated horses and cattle sipping at the water’s edge. An equally diverse array of vessels and people can be encountered during a trip on the waterway.

The ride lends itself to an incredible Sea-Doo experience as the protected waters make it a trip nearly any Sea-Doo watercraft owner can do. We challenged some accomplished riders to make the trek and videoed the adventure. To ensure the odds of completing the challenge were in our favor, all three rode new 2016 300 horsepower Sea-Doo watercraft models including X-TEAM racer Erminio Iantosca (@erminioiantosca) on a RXP-X 300, Cody Hawkins (@codyhawkins) on a RXT-X 300 and Ashley Sponaugle (@ashleysponaugle) on a GTX Limited 300.

The project had to be shot in one day as thee are no retakes with a sunrise and sunset. This was a challenging project and very aggressive planning to capture such a ride on video and tell the full story. The crew was minimal to say the least. The crew consisted of three riders, one boat driver, one cameraman and two truck drivers to chase along with the trailers, plus two Facebook fans in Ft. Myers we would meet up with at sunset. Planned a month in advance, weather was a major concern and when the day came we were gifted with near perfect weather, a tad windy, but no rain and mostly sunny skies.

The day of the crew woke up at 4:30 and launched the units prior to sunrise to get over to the south end of Hutchinson Island and the Stuart Inlet. Exactly 6:13am the sun broke the horizon and the clock started. Thee riders aboard three 300 horsepower watercraft set for a 14-plus hour trek. We knew we would encounter many slow speed zones and waiting at locks and this was built into the plan. What wasn’t built into the plan was the photoboat’s steering fading away at about the 20-mile mark.

With 85% of the trip in front of us, right around the point where we pass several cows next to the waterway, the steering gear box faltered and we had virtually no steering to the left. With veteran adventure boaters the team continued using what little steering they had and using so leaning along the way. Luckily the wind was from the rear and the there were little sharp turns involved in the journey allowing the chase/photoboat to keep up with the 300 hp watercraft.

The three new Sea-Doo models ran flawlessly and covered plenty of distance and other than the diverse scenery along the way the only drama was keeping the boat on course. The adventure was just that as our riders successfully made it to Sanibel Island where they met up with local Facebook fans Julio Paulo who owns a SPARK model and Raegan Wesch a proud owner of a Sea-Doo GTX 155. Over three hours of video was captured over the nearly 15-hour journey and it was all cut into a 2:00 video that you may have seen on the Sea-Doo Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube channels. We also produced a longer version that shows a little more of the adventure and some of the elements that make the Sea-Doo life the most fun you can have on the water.

Enjoy and have a great summer.

Sea-Doo X-TEAM watercraft racer Dustin Farthing is dedicating his final season of racing to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by donating all of his 2016 prize and contingency money to the Atlanta based non-profit.

Farthing is a 17X national and world champion, now residing in Marietta, GA and part owner of six BRP dealerships under the Mountain Motorsports brand and father of two healthy sons. He is closing out an illustrious 23-year watercraft-racing career by giving back to the sport that has provided him the majority of his personal and professional success. In his final season he has chosen to race for BRP Inc. (Bombardier Recreational Products), the industries leading manufacturer, aboard a new Monster Energy backed Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 watercraft and aims to finish in the lead pack collecting prize money he will then donate to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Dustin Farthing and Family.

“This sport has given me so much and I want to leave the sport by doing something special for the kids of Atlanta and their families whom are facing incredible health challenges. ” exclaims Farthing. “My wife, whom I met at a race 20-plus years ago, and two sons are the most important part of my life and I feel blessed every day for our health and am challenging myself to race for families struggling to take care of their children and winning on my Sea-Doo watercraft.”

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a not-for-profit organization that provides specialized care to children from all walks of life. They rely on donations to provide the best possible care to young patients and their families now and in the future. Farthing will donate 100% of the prize money he earns during the 2016 watercraft racing season plus all racing contingency funds from the Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty program that makes over $25,000 of funds available to winning Sea-Doo watercraft riders. *

“This sport has given me every opportunity to have an incredible life and now it’s my opportunity to give back,” said Farthing. I am going to have fun in my final year racing on a Sea-Doo watercraft and give back in the most positive manner possible.

Farthing will be competing in the Pro Watercross Tour, that begins this weekend in Panama City, Florida as well as the Florida based P1 AquaX series and IJSBA World Finals event in October taking place in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

When championship Sea-Doo racer Eric Lagopoulos isn’t in hot pursuit of his next win and triumphant appearance on the winner’s podium, you can find him living the Sea-Doo life on the west coast of Florida where he spends his days running his popular waterfront restaurant “The WaterfrontToo” and enjoying his Sea-Doo in a more relaxed and leisurely fashion.

lag

Eric Lagopoulos aboard the #361 Sea-Doo GTR 215

Onboard: Your fans know you well from your multiple wins and your racing fame including your most recent trip to the winner’s podium at the 2015 AquaX, but what would surprise them to learn about you?

Eric: At a young age I had the opportunity to get involved in the family restaurant business and I jumped on it! Today, I now own “The WaterfrontToo” Grille & Steakhouse, a spin-off of the original “Waterfront” restaurant my family established in Sarasota. It’s a 250-seat seafood and steakhouse in Nokomis. I’m proud of what we have accomplished, especially being recognized for our signature hand-cut steaks and fresh fish as well as for our slow-cooked prime rib which is the best in town! We also cater to water enthusiasts – they can access the restaurant by water and pull up and dock for an evening of dining fun waterside.

Onboard: When not in the heat of racing season, what’s a typical day for you like?

Eric:  My typical day would be to wake-up and either work-out or go riding.  I try to ride three to five days a week to stay in shape for the grueling Aqua Cross season – which is fast approaching!  After prepping for competition on my Sea-Doo – so I can continue to win titles, I then head over to the restaurant. Since it is only open for dinner, it provides me with tremendous schedule flexibility. This allows me to fit my race training schedule around owning and operating my restaurant.

Eric and Sea-Doo: Inseparable even on days off! (Photo Credit: Eric Lagopoulos Facebook)

Onboard: Your Sea-Doo is a major component of your life on and off the race circuit. How do you like to spend your “off” days?

Eric:  My perfect “non-racing” day on my Sea-Doo would be going to a place I’ve ridden to my entire life, a place called Bayside. It’s on the northern end of Longboat Key, and it is one of my favorite spots because it makes for easy access to the Gulf of Mexico. On a perfect day, there would be three to five-foot surf – which offers me and my buddies awesome launches all day long! And when not on my Sea-Doo, you can find me enjoying other water sports including wake boarding and surfing.

2015 AquaX Champion, Eric Lagopoulos

Onboard: Thank you for taking us through a day in your Sea-Doo life, now circling back to racing – can you share with us what’s new for the 361 team in 2016?

Eric:  The 361 team will have a cool new title sponsor for 2016, Von Vape! I’m really excited to partner with this company, they are local and have a long history of boat racing in the family! Von Vape will be joined by Sea-Doo, Riva, Hydroturf, Fly, and Jetpilot in keeping me on top of the podium!

BRP thanks Eric Lagopoulos for his time and dedication to the pursuit of PWC racing glory aboard Sea-Doo. You can follow Eric on his Facebook page.

BRP takes luxury riding to the next level with the introduction of the Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300. The combination of increased power and efficiency of the new 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine with the advanced ergonomics of the Ergolock seat deliver a confidence inspiring ride allowing you to push your limits even further. This year all GTX models receive the new Ergolock seat with stepped design and the second generation of the intuitive Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) system for an added level of control adding more value to the most full-featured luxury models in the watercraft industry.

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine engine - Static4

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine Engine

The new Rotax 1630 ACE engine is the most powerful engine ever produced by Rotax with a 15% power increase creating 300 hp, providing better acceleration and more mid-range power1. With increased intake air boost, improved cooling system and new ignition timing for the larger fuel injectors, the new Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 elevates performance in the luxury segment.

In addition to the development of the new Rotax 1630 ACE engine, BRP applies the latest ergonomic science to perfect the rider position with the new Ergolock seat with stepped design on all GTX models in 2016. The Ergolock seat provides all riders a full body connection with the watercraft and a more natural position for more comfortable touring and confident cornering. The Ergolock seat design is sculpted to the riders’ bodies with a narrower section between the knees slightly widening towards the rear. The stepped-seating implements rising seating levels for better passenger vision with added lumbar cushioning providing added support for up to three riders that hold them in place better in all conditions.

The third major improvement for 2016 is all Sea-Doo GTX models will be equipped with the new second-generation iBR that improves on the intuitive iBR braking system with a more responsive activation and faster braking. The Sea-Doo iBR system introduced in 2009 is the first and only braking system recognized by the United States Coast Guard for contributing to recreational boating safety and stops the Sea-Doo watercraft close to 48.75 m (160-feet)2 sooner than the same watercraft not using a braking system. The new iBR system adds to the rider centric design approach providing unmatched control at speed and during tight quarter manoeuvring.

The GTX segment rides on the exclusive S3 hull (Stepped, Stable, Strong) that provides better wave penetration for a more stable ride and also offers the industry’s only suspension options on select models for the most comfortable ride available.

SEA-DOO WAKE MODELS TAKE TOW SPORTS TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH PERFECT BLEND OF COMFORT, FUN AND FUNCTIONALITY

BRP continues to offer the right watercraft for every type of watersports enthusiasts with two tow sports specific models in the 2016 Sea-Doo WAKE 155 and Sea-Doo WAKE PRO 215.

Both 2016 Sea-Doo WAKE models receive the new, second-generation Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) providing a more responsive activation and faster braking. The WAKE PRO 215 model is redesigned with the adapted Ergolock seat for greater rider and passenger comfort.

Sea-Doo watercraft have been part of the wake board and wake skate scenes since their respective inceptions as the tow vehicle of choice for elite watersport athletes as well as providing the perfect instructional tow vehicle for amateurs and enthusiasts. The Sea‑Doo tow sport watercraft provide the best wake towing capabilities and are equipped with exclusive features developed specifically for tow sports such as Ski Mode, a removable wakeboard rack and a retractable ski pylon with spotter handles and rope strap. The exclusive Sea-Doo iBR system has also become a valuable tool for tow sports enthusiasts as the intuitive system provides added control for quick turn-around to pick up downed skiers. The second-generation iBR provides a more responsive activation through an improved gearbox motor and larger, reengineered brake gate. The new iBR reduces the stopping distance by close to 48.75 m (160-feet)1.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.25.19 PMJames Bushell is special. A talent like this doesn’t come around often. Bushell has been the most dominant professional runabout watercraft racer in the world over the past five years and there are no signs of him slowing down. Bushell recently won his second consecutive King’s Cup Pro GP crown on his 158Performance RXP-X at the annual race held in Thailand.

James is from the UK, not necessarily known as a PWC hotbed, yet the riders from the region are passionate about the sport and have produced some of the world’s best talent including racers Lisa Barsby and Anya Colley as well as freestyle champion Lee Stone. Bushell began his run in this millenniums first decade winning a handful of World Championships but it was in 2011 when he took his riding to another level.

Bushell was targeted by Sea-Doo Competition management, with super tuner Les Cooke of the legendary Sea-Doo Centre, as the right fit to launch the new Sea-Doo RXT-X with T3 hull on to the race scene at the 2011 World Finals. It was an, “all-in” approach with Bushell as the focus rider on the new platform and he didn’t disappoint winning both the Pro Open and Pro GP class the first race out of the gate and has added nearly a dozen more major championships to his resume since.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.24.30 PM The Thailand King’s Cup is the last major race of the year and Bushell was excited to repeat as champion. “My experience in Thailand was awesome this year couldn’t asked for better result,” said Bushell. “This year was a bit stressful as the container with my Sea-Doo units arrive the night before the race. My modified SPARK with turbo was awesome and a really fun machine to ride and my 2016 rxpx worked perfect and it a pleasure to ride.”

Look for Bushell to race the SPARK classes more in 2016 and to continue his winning streak on the RXP-X 300.
