Orlando, Florida August 16, 2016 – BRP offers more performance watercraft options with two new 2017 Sea-Doo models  including the high value GTR 230 and new GTR-X 230 with Ergolock system. Both models will be powered by the new 230-hp Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine and join the RXT 260, RXT-X 300 and RXP-X 300 to further strengthen the strongest performance line-up in the watercraft industry.

The new Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 watercraft becomes the most affordable X-model (extra performance) and is powered by the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine that will push this new watercraft from idle to 60 mph (96,6 km/h) in 5.3 seconds, which is 2.4 seconds quicker than the closest competitive model1. The new GTR-X 230 model receives the complete Ergolock system that includes the Ergolock seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar, and angled footwell wedges. The Ergolock seat allows riders to hold onto the watercraft better by using their stronger leg muscles to squeeze the narrower seat, thus improving control and reducing upper body fatigue for a more confidence inspiring ride to push riding limits even further.

Powering the Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 and GTR 230 models is new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine, designed with the Advanced Combustion Efficiency philosophy producing 15 more horsepower than its predecessor while maintaining minimal mass for strong power-to-weight performance. The advances in thermal dynamic cooling and overall refinement in the 1500 HO ACE engine elevates the nimble handling of the GTR platform to the next level of value-minded performance watercraft.

The new 230-hp Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine follows the 300-hp 1630 ACE engine innovation, including the plasma-coating technology for aluminum-block engines developed by a Rotax team in Gunskirchen, Austria. The plasma coating technology is a thermal spraying process that deposits a protective coating on engine cylinder walls to create a metallic layer that provides a hard and durable surface to withstand piston friction forces. It improves surface durability, while keeping the engine lighter and more compact with better heat transfer and superior performance, and reduced use of chemicals.

The Rotax ACE, or Advanced Combustion Efficiency, engines implement advancements in combustion and cooling efficiency that produce substantially more power without adding mass. The ACE philosophy aids the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE in producing 15 more horsepower power than the previous version to provide strong power-to-weight performance and is optimized for regular fuel resulting in more money saved at the gas station. While the new engine produces 15 more horsepower than its predecessor, fuel consumption remains on par. Adding to the innovation, the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE follows in the wake of it’s big brother, the Rotax 1630 ACE engine, with a maintenance free* supercharger.

All 2017 Sea-Doo performance models are equipped with the second-generation Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR), the intuitive braking system that reduces the stopping distance by nearly 160 feet (48.75 m) sooner2 than deceleration without braking. The Sea-Doo iBR is the first and only braking system recognized by the USCG (U.S. Coast Guard) since 2009 for contributing to recreational boating safety and adds to the rider-centric design approach providing maximum control in all conditions. The 2017 Sea-Doo performance models also include race-inspired features such as high-performance Variable Trim System (VTS), handlegrips with palm rest and race-inspired coloration and graphics.

As the lowest priced Sea-Doo X-model, the GTR-X 230 is powered by the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine and is joined by the race-proven Ergolock system that inspires more confidence in all conditions. The GTR-X 230 rides upon the playful yet precise GTI hull and when coupled with the new 230-hp powerplant it turns from mild-mannered to superhero status at the pull of the throttle lever, leaping from 0-60 mph (96,6 km/h) in 5.3 seconds.

The GTR-X 230 with Ergolock system allows the rider to connect with the watercraft to become one with it, allowing the rider to push the limits even further. The narrower, lower body-molded seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar, and angled footwell wedges, provide added leverage in aggressive cornering and are equally beneficial in connecting to the watercraft in choppy, open-water, straight-line riding. Adding to rider control and confidence is the second-generation iBR that reduces the stopping distance of the watercraft by nearly 160 feet (48.75 m) and the Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) with three power delivery modes including Touring, Sport, and ECO to best match the riding activity. The 2017 Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 delivers the best of watercraft high-performance and high-value.

2017 SEA-DOO GTR 230

The 2017 Sea-Doo GTR 230 model receives a 15-horsepower boost from the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine elevating the fun factor on what was already argued to be the most versatile performance model in the industry. The GTR 230 provides a gateway into the Sea-Doo performance family with all the adrenaline-pumping fun one can hope for at an affordable price.

2017 Sea-Doo GTR-X 230 (right) and GTR 230 (left)

The Sea-Doo GTR 230 model is the new stronger version of what has been the preferred model of the reigning AQUAX US 250 class champion3. This model is based on the nimble yet predictable handling of the GTI platform while offering more power from the new Rotax 1500 HO ACE engine for a superior power-to-weight ratio. The GTR 230 watercraft is also fully equipped with the Sea-Doo iControl technologies including the iTC and second-generation iBR system, providing added control in tight quarter situations and allowing the rider to stop sooner for greater peace of mind. The Sea-Doo GTR 230 features: integrated infocenter, high-performance Variable Trim System (VTS) and 30.8 US gallons (116.6 liters) of storage and available in Black and Octane Blue.

2017 SEA-DOO RXP-X 300

The Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft is the most decorated performance model in recent racing history, claiming the past five Pro Open and Pro GP World Championships. The 2017 RXP-X is the industry’s undisputed king of closed-course racing and boosts the industry’s best power-to-weight ratio thanks to the 300-horsepower Rotax 1630 ACE engine. The Rotax 1630 ACE power package provides greater mid-range power for better cornering speed and produces over 1G during hole shot acceleration from a stop.

2017 RXP-X 300

The T3 hull design offers one-of-a-kind handling allowing the RXP-X 300 model to aggressively lean into corners and penetrate chop better than any of its two-seater counterparts. T3 stands for “tight-turning T-hull” and uses an advanced, dual-running surface hull design with a unique combination of soft and hard chines, adjustable rear sponsons and performance trim tabs. The T3 hull combined with the Ergolock system allows the rider to lean further into corners, using more of the available power, with greater confidence and less effort to turn tighter and faster.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 also includes the intuitive second-generation iBR providing the only braking system available on a high-performance two-seater for an enhanced level of rider control. The Sea-Doo RXP-X model has set the standard for precise handling and in 2017 is available in Lava Red and the modern Monolith Black Satin coloration or race-inspired White and Dayglow Yellow. No watercraft turns like the 2017 RXP-X 300 and no watercraft is as fun and rewarding as when pushing your riding limits further on the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300.

2017 SEA-DOO RXT-X 300

The combination of the Rotax 1630 ACE engine power and advanced ergonomics of the Ergolock system delivers a confidence-inspiring ride allowing you to push your limits even further on the 2017 Sea-Doo RXT-X 300. The 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine delivers more torque providing more mid-range power to help maintain momentum when riding through heavy chop where the jet pump is continually reengaging with the water. The Rotax ACE power package provides greater throttle response in all conditions and is the most powerful engine ever offered in a Sea-Doo watercraft.

2017 Sea-Doo RXT-X 300

The 2017 RXT-X 300 integrates the race-proven Sea-Doo Ergolock system that allows the rider to connect with the watercraft better and use his entire body to hold on rather than only the upper-body, thus improving confidence and reducing upper body fatigue. The Ergolock seat, Adjustable Ergonomic Steering (A.E.S.) handlebar and angled footwell wedges, benefit in aggressive cornering and open-water, straight-line riding. The added ability for the rider to feel better connected to the RXT-X 300 delivers better control and less fatigue allowing the rider to utilize the available power more efficiently.

The performance three-seater provides wet storage under Sea-Doo’s exclusive removable watertight storage bin for a total storage capacity of 42.8 US gallons (162 liters)  including an ultra large glove box. The technical flowing edge designed top deck of the RXT-X model is complimented by the functionality of the stable and predictable S3 hull with adjustable rear sponsons. The RXT-X 300 watercraft is equipped with race-specific features including, digital infocenter with integrated lap timer and boost indicator and high-performance Variable Trim System (VTS). It also features the second-generation iBR adding to the level of rider control with the most intuitive operation and Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) systems with Touring, Sport and ECO modes. The 2017 Sea-Doo RXT-X 300 model is available in the two color variations of Lava Red and the modern Monolith Black Satin or race-inspired White and Dayglow Yellow.

 2017 SEA-DOO RXT 260

The 2017 Sea-Doo RXT 260 model is ideal for the weekend performance enthusiast looking for an exhilarating experience during longer rides. The three-seater with Ergolock seat ensures RXT 260 riders enjoy added control, comfort and confidence in all conditions with a form-fitting design for the driver and passengers.

BRP takes luxury riding to the next level with the introduction of the Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300. The combination of increased power and efficiency of the new 300-hp Rotax 1630 ACE engine with the advanced ergonomics of the Ergolock seat deliver a confidence inspiring ride allowing you to push your limits even further. This year all GTX models receive the new Ergolock seat with stepped design and the second generation of the intuitive Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR) system for an added level of control adding more value to the most full-featured luxury models in the watercraft industry.

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine engine - Static4

ROTAX 1630 ACE Marine Engine

The new Rotax 1630 ACE engine is the most powerful engine ever produced by Rotax with a 15% power increase creating 300 hp, providing better acceleration and more mid-range power1. With increased intake air boost, improved cooling system and new ignition timing for the larger fuel injectors, the new Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 elevates performance in the luxury segment.

In addition to the development of the new Rotax 1630 ACE engine, BRP applies the latest ergonomic science to perfect the rider position with the new Ergolock seat with stepped design on all GTX models in 2016. The Ergolock seat provides all riders a full body connection with the watercraft and a more natural position for more comfortable touring and confident cornering. The Ergolock seat design is sculpted to the riders’ bodies with a narrower section between the knees slightly widening towards the rear. The stepped-seating implements rising seating levels for better passenger vision with added lumbar cushioning providing added support for up to three riders that hold them in place better in all conditions.

The third major improvement for 2016 is all Sea-Doo GTX models will be equipped with the new second-generation iBR that improves on the intuitive iBR braking system with a more responsive activation and faster braking. The Sea-Doo iBR system introduced in 2009 is the first and only braking system recognized by the United States Coast Guard for contributing to recreational boating safety and stops the Sea-Doo watercraft close to 48.75 m (160-feet)2 sooner than the same watercraft not using a braking system. The new iBR system adds to the rider centric design approach providing unmatched control at speed and during tight quarter manoeuvring.

You’ve been eyeing the next addition to your personal Sea-Doo line up. How can you have more fun on the water? The solution—WAKE. The Watercraft Journal recently reviewed the WAKE 155 model stating, “In perfect Sea-Doo fashion, the PWC manufacturer equipped with their Wake units with so much innovation and features that the segment has become one of the brand’s most popular in recent years. Branching further than mere wakeskate and wakeboard riders, the Wake models appeal to families using the craft for whipping towables around their local lake or river.”

Wake 155_13279_MY15

So you’ve made the decision and your new Wake model is home. You can’t wait to get out on the water. One of two things come to mind. It’s either, “I have never towed someone before. How do I do that? What’s right and wrong;” or “I’ve got this, let’s go.” Whichever way, safety is important so here are 7 basic tips for Sea-Doo towing.

1. Know your local laws before towing. Most states require that the watercraft is a 3-passenger with mirrors, with a driver and a spotter. Some states require safety signal devices.  Check www.boatus.org for the laws in your state.

2. Make sure your rope is secure to the watercraft, either a ski pylon or tow eye in the rear of the watercraft. Do not tie ski rope to anything that was not manufactured to be used as a tow point.

3. Take note of a person’s ability. Driver’s should practice without a skier, and focus on smooth accelerations and maintaining a steady speed. On Wake models (WAKE 155 & WAKE Pro 215), SKI mode is a standard feature and can be turned on to accomplish this. SKI mode is an advanced iControl feature that allows the driver to adjust the intensity of the launch for different rider skill levels and tow sports while maintaining a constant speed. You get 5 acceleration profiles for the best possible tow sports experience.

WAKE Pro 215

4. Once your skier is in the water, take the slack out of the rope. Begin idling once the slack is tight.  Then when the skier signals that they are ready to go, accelerate enough to pull the skier up on the top of the water. Get to your preferred speed and maintain that speed.

5. Always look forward, not behind at the skier, that is the spotters job.

6. When the skier is done or falls, come down to an idle, slowly turnaround without running the rope over, maintain a steady, slow speed back to your skier. Loop around behind them so they can reach the rope, and start all over again making sure you never aim straight at your rider, always stay to the left or right of them during your approach.

2015 SEA-DOO WAKE PRO 215_ACTION27. Signals for sking: thumbs up (faster), thumbs down (slower), fist on your head means you are done and you are going to let go of the rope (stop).

2014 Sea-Doo lineup, choose a Sea-Doo, Sea-Doo watercraft, seadoo, The Intrepid cottager, which sea-doo is right for you?

The Intrepid Cottager, Craig Nicholson is a guest blogger for Sea-Doo and in this blog he reviews his opinions on how to determine which Sea-Doo is right for you…

pic 1 icblog

With so many models and prices to choose from, how do you know which Sea-Doo is right for you? In my blog “Sea-Doo Watercraft Buying Tips”, I discussed many of the basic questions you need to ask yourself before purchasing a PWC. This blog deals what model to select and how.

I was going to write about the factors I’d consider, but discovered that Sea-Doo already has that well covered on their website. On their home page, there’s a “Help Me Choose” box that helps you select your riding preferences. Based on your choices, the Sea-Doo Selection Preference Tool recommends the best model for your intended uses. So rather than re-invent the wheel, I’m going to add my two cents to what they’ve already provided…

Riding Style – This preference offers three options. Here are some descriptive words I’d use toic blog 2 flesh them out a bit (understanding that there will always be some overlap and grey areas among the options): “Playful” – For this lively rider, fun is putting the craft thru its paces, doing tricks, donuts and change-ups, while getting wet (and cooling off) in the process. “Aggressive” – This thrill-seeking rider prefers to conquer the waves at brisk pace with plenty of power, performance, and technology on board. “Relaxed” – For this cruising rider, the main priority is comfort and luxury while touring the waterways to see new sights and go different places.

ic blog 3Seating – Choose from one to three seats, depending on how many people will typically ride together on one watercraft. But depending on your age and size, don’t overlook the consideration that a two-seater may always be more comfortable for a solo rider, while a three-seater is roomier for a couple that always ride together 2-up. The choice of seats also impacts manoeuvring and handling: one-seaters are typically lighter and more nimble than three-seaters. Also, be aware that if you intend to legally use your craft, however infrequently for any tow sports, you need three seats: operator, spotter and space for the person being towed. Generally, the more seats you have, the more versatile your new watercraft will be to adapt your changing needs over time.

Riding Time – For clarification, Riding Time in this context means how long you ride on each ic blog 4occasion you use your watercraft, not your total riding hours each year (which should be longer overall for those living in warmer climates). To me, the Riding Time choice also speaks directly to Riding Style, above. As a “Relaxed” Rider (albeit with a touch of aggression thrown in for good measure) who cruises for lots of hours, I choose the most comfortable, luxurious and effortless model available. I think most baby boomers should go this way, simply because it’s easier on the bod, regardless of how long you go for. On the other hand, if your primary Riding Style is “Playful”, you’re likely doing a couple of hours here and there on weekends, so your Riding Time may be “Short” or “Medium”, not “Long”. If this is your first PWC, it may be hard to estimate your Riding Time, but if you base your best guess on how many hours you actually have available to spend on the water, you should be fairly accurate.

Water Type – This preference is asking for two considerations. One, do you primarily intend to ic blog 5ride freshwater (inland waterway) or salt water (ocean)? Generally, ocean riding tends to involve more waves and challenging conditions, but larger freshwater lakes can be just as demanding. Two, do you intend to ride only in mostly flat conditions but can handle some mild chop if it happens, or are you willing (and able) to ride even if it’s rough? These two considerations will help determine: the size of watercraft you may need (In my experience, larger ones are more stable and handle rough water better.); and whether or not to get suspension (For cruising and day-trip riding, I wouldn’t ride without it.) Also, remember that if you only go when the water’s flat, your Riding Time may be lower than you originally anticipated.

Speed – This preference will help determine what size engine you need. Generally, the bigger ic blog 6the engine and the faster you go, the more gas you’ll use. A “Playful” rider likely doesn’t need as much oomph as an “Aggressive” rider, and a “Relaxed” rider probably falls somewhere in between. I’ve found that for cruising, it’s always good to have a little power to spare.

Speed – This preference will help determine what size engine you need. Generally, the bigger the engine and the faster you go, the more gas you’ll use. A “Playful” rider likely doesn’t need as much oomph as an “Aggressive” rider, and a “Relaxed” rider probably falls somewhere in between. I’ve found that for cruising, it’s always good to have a little power to spare.

Comfort – Again this preference also speaks to other categories. Comfort is a big factor in Riding Style and Water Type and may also affect your ic blog 7Riding Time. Bluntly, I think it also speaks to age – comfort features and benefits may be a greater consideration for baby boomers than for Gen Yer’s. One thing I know for sure – the longer each ride is, and the more frequently I ride, the more important comfort, especially suspension is to me.

So What Am I Riding? I decided to check the accuracy of Sea-Doo’s Selection Preference Tool by entering my own choices. I selected the following preferences: Riding Style – “Relaxed”; Seating – “3”; Riding Time – “Long”; Water Type – “Rough”; Speed – “Somewhat”; Comfort – “Very”. For me, the selection tool recommended a GTX S 155. This selection is right on the money, because a 2014 GTX S 155 is exactly what I had already ordered last spring before knowing about the tool.

Equally accurate, by changing my need for Speed preference from “Somewhat“ to “Very” (as in fast), Sea-Doo’s tool recommended a GTX Limited iS 260 instead (what I have been riding for the past two seasons). Actually, my ideal engine size would be a 215cc, but there’s no Sea-Doo model available with that power output with suspension, so this season I decided my wife and I would each ride a GTX S 155 – I’ll let you know how that works out. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a new Sea-Doo or wonder if the one you have is right, check out Sea-Doo’s Selection Preference Tool for yourself!

Sea-Doo Performance enthusiasts live for the latest and greatest technologies on the water. They want to have the best equipment, the best gear, and head to the water for a real adrenaline rush! They expect the elements that support their passion to be as functional as they are fashionable.

These Sea-Doo Performance enthusiasts fall into the realm of the X-Team, BRP’s designated performance brand for the special, no holds barred, extreme riders. These riders put a premium on power, handling and top-end performance and need riding gear to match these demands. The X-Team riders push their physical and mental abilities to extract every shred of performance from their Sea-Doo watercraft.

When a rider demands the most from their watercraft and themselves the riding gear can make the difference in comfort and performance. That’s why the Sea-Doo X-Team gear is developed in conjunction with the product development to ensure complete rider/watercraft integration.  As with any athlete the initial focus should be on the core.Mens performance X Team Wet Suit

Kevin Wassum is one of these Sea-Doo Performance enthusiasts. He is a Sea-Doo fan, but not any fan; he won the “Ultimate Sea-Doo Fan” contest in 2011 and     has since become a performance fan, having entered his first watercraft racing event this summer. He is a fit rider and wears the Sea-Doo Performance X-Team Combo Suit and Force Pullover PFD. Wassum tells us why this is the right suit for the performance enthusiasts.

“When it comes to rough water riding, I prefer the sleeveless style over the traditional long sleeve one piece and “shorty” wetsuits for a few reasons; the sleeveless wetsuit provides your legs with full coverage and protection from chaffing during choppy conditions. It’s less restrictive and easier to pull on and take off than a one-piece wetsuit because of the material and construction. The sleeveless style also allows a rider to choose between riding with the jacket or without to stay warm during cooler weather or cooler during warm weather. So you get the best of everything, nice fit, comfort when it’s warm out, and warmth when it’s cold out. It also protects from spray when riding all out in a crowd or heavy surf.”

Force PFD thumbWassum also rides with the Sea-Doo Force Pullover PFD and had this to say about his experience with this piece of gear. “It’s got everything you can ask for in a PFD including a nice snug fit, good padding in the chest and back without the feeling of being overly bulky, solid lanyard hook, race approved safety buckles, and a side entry fit that helps prevent the PFD from coming off if you go swimming, if you know what I mean.”booties

The wetsuit and PFD cover the core but how about the connection points between rider and watercraft? Having maximum foot traction is crucial to proper body position to extract maximum performance from the rider’s lower body. The Sea-Doo Booties are designed for the watery playing field, come with a neoprene sock for comfort and provide maximum traction. The boots also feature mesh panels and perforated sole for water evacuation and one-handed lace system to minimize weight and offer quick cinching when on the go.

Keeping a grip on the controls is arguably the most important physical aspect of performance riding and the Sea-Doo glovesVehicle Gloves are designed to keep the rider connected. The Sea-Doo Vehicle Gloves are available in both full-finger and shorty options dependent on personal preference. The neoprene vehicle gloves feature Spandex finger gussets for comfort and protection. The rubberized Pro-Grip on the thumb and palm provides superior grip when calling on the Rotax 4-TEC Supercharged power.

Keeping your eyes on the prize is very important in performance riding as spray and other air born debris, such as insects, can slow2013 Sea-Doo Riding Goggles your fun down quickly. The Sea-Doo Riding Goggles offer the best eye protection with its hypoallergenic silicone seal. They keep out the water and offer the finest anti-fog solution keeping the riders vision of the horizon clear. Perhaps the most innovative element of the ridding goggles is the goggle-to-PFD attachment lanyard that connects them to the PFDs. Now riders don’t have to worry about loosing their eye protection when riding all out.

Wassum provides a final word: “I really like the X-Team Combo Suit and Force PFD, it matches with the rest of the Sea-Doo X-Team gear as well as my RXP-X itself.  So, you’ve got the perfect fit, and with all matching gear, you’ve also got the perfect look.”

X-Team riders or weekend performance enthusiasts, Sea-Doo has the best equipment and gear to ensure you have the ultimate experience in comfort and style!

All of the Sea-Doo performance gear can be purchased through the Sea-Doo online store and at your local dealer.

2014 SEA-DOO SPARK 2UP_ACTION4

BRP introduces the all-new Sea-Doo Spark watercraft designed to make any family’s dream of great days on the water possible right now. The 2014 Sea-Doo Spark watercraft leads an entirely new segment of the Sea-Doo lineup designed for the young family looking for simple and accessible fun in a stylish, compact, and lightweight platform. The Sea-Doo Spark model carries with it BRP’s innovative DNA from the industry-leading Sea-Doo brand.

The Sea-Doo Spark is fun

The Sea-Doo Spark model is compact and is the lightest watercraft on the market1 providing a fun and playful ride. It is easy to maneuver, is ideal for short rides on smaller bodies of water and can still be used under rougher conditions by people looking for an exciting or more challenging ride. This model stands out with a stunning new look and comes in a variety of 5 colors and numerous customization options, so everyone can make it their own.

The Sea-Doo Spark is accessible

The new Sea-Doo Spark model is the most affordable watercraft on the market, costing nearly 40% less than the closest model2 and is the most fuel-efficient watercraft in the industry3.  It is economical to operate and maintain, making Sea-Doo ownership accessible to more households. Its compact design and lightweight construction makes it easy to own, easy to tow with many popular compact sedans and simple to store. The Sea-Doo Spark model is powered by the ultra reliable Rotax 900 ACE engine family, the most compact and most economical to run, 4-stroke watercraft engine.

The Sea-Doo Spark is part of a leading brand recognized for innovation.

BRP’s Sea-Doo design and engineering team developed a new concept for the structure of the vehicle to create the lightest watercraft on the market. Named Exoskel, this minimalist architecture gives the Sea-Doo Spark watercraft an open-air upper deck appearance with a framework that consists of two forward swept “arms” securing the handlebar and rider connection area. The Exoskel minimalistic architecture keeps only the essential structural parts in the rider control area and maintains strength and durability. It reduces the weight while creating a modern and cutting-edge design that defines the uniqueness and maneuverability of the Sea-Doo Spark watercraft.

The innovation of the Sea-Doo Spark goes beyond the architectural design and extends into the new materials and processes used to create this new watercraft. Over three years of research and development went into developing Polytec, a proprietary recipe of polypropylene and long glass fibers designed specifically for watercraft hull and deck applications. Polytec, is the “skin” of the Sea-Doo Spark Exoskel providing structural integrity. This material is a recyclable, low density, high-impact resistant, lightweight composite material. Polytec further lowers the overall weight of the watercraft without compromising strength and durability, as has been proven through rigorous, heavy use testing in both fresh and salt water environments including real world ocean impact and specialized crane drop testing.

Powering the innovative Sea-Doo Spark model is a new engine, the ROTAX 900 ACE, 2014 SEA-DOO SPARK_STUDIO - Rotax ACE 900 marine enginethe most compact marine family of engines currently in the watercraft market. Designed specifically for delivering years of reliable fun, the ROTAX 900 ACE is an in-line three-cylinder 4-stroke power plant featuring iTC (intelligent Throttle Control) system and CLCS (Closed-Loop Cooling System). Because the Sea-Doo Spark watercraft is so light, its power-to-weight ratio is close to 50% better than the closest competitive model,4 making it big in terms of fun factor.

ACE stands for Advanced Combustion Efficiency technology and it minimizes mechanical friction at the same time that it improves thermodynamic efficiency for optimal engine performance. This technology combined with the lightweight of the Sea-Doo Spark model allows it to become the most fuel-efficient watercraft available3, with a fuel consumption that’s less than 2 gallons5 per hour. Finally, the Rotax 900 ACE engine is also environmentally friendly. In fact, emissions for the Sea-Doo Spark are close to 13 times lower than similar models from the 90s and early 2000s6 while delivering the same pleasure and responsiveness.

Another Sea-Doo maintenance improvement for this year is the fact that the engine coolant can now be used for 5 years or 300 hours before needing replacement.
