Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.25.19 PMJames Bushell is special. A talent like this doesn’t come around often. Bushell has been the most dominant professional runabout watercraft racer in the world over the past five years and there are no signs of him slowing down. Bushell recently won his second consecutive King’s Cup Pro GP crown on his 158Performance RXP-X at the annual race held in Thailand.

James is from the UK, not necessarily known as a PWC hotbed, yet the riders from the region are passionate about the sport and have produced some of the world’s best talent including racers Lisa Barsby and Anya Colley as well as freestyle champion Lee Stone. Bushell began his run in this millenniums first decade winning a handful of World Championships but it was in 2011 when he took his riding to another level.

Bushell was targeted by Sea-Doo Competition management, with super tuner Les Cooke of the legendary Sea-Doo Centre, as the right fit to launch the new Sea-Doo RXT-X with T3 hull on to the race scene at the 2011 World Finals. It was an, “all-in” approach with Bushell as the focus rider on the new platform and he didn’t disappoint winning both the Pro Open and Pro GP class the first race out of the gate and has added nearly a dozen more major championships to his resume since.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.24.30 PM The Thailand King’s Cup is the last major race of the year and Bushell was excited to repeat as champion. “My experience in Thailand was awesome this year couldn’t asked for better result,” said Bushell. “This year was a bit stressful as the container with my Sea-Doo units arrive the night before the race. My modified SPARK with turbo was awesome and a really fun machine to ride and my 2016 rxpx worked perfect and it a pleasure to ride.”

Look for Bushell to race the SPARK classes more in 2016 and to continue his winning streak on the RXP-X 300.

BRP enjoyed the most dominant IJSBA World Finals showing in the event’s history, as Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft racers filled 14 of the 15 available Pro class podiums and 81% of the podiums in classes using modern watercraft.

The IJSBA World Finals is the largest watercraft specific event in North America where the best racers from around the globe converge to compete for World Championships in Lake Havasu City, AZ. At this year’s event, the pit area, starting lines, and racetrack were filled with Sea-Doo RXP-X models. South Africa’s Jarod Moore led the Sea-Doo X-TEAM charge winning his first Pro Open World Championship on his RXP-X model and James Bushell added two more World Championships to his resume claiming both the Pro Stock and Pro GP classes on his RXP-X watercraft.

The Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft has proven to provide the best performance in the industry with superior handling, ergonomics and power. The exclusive RXP-X T3 hull allows riders to track straight through chop and lean into turns to turn tighter and faster.  The innovative Ergolock system allows the rider to become one with the vehicle through a narrow, form fitting seat and angled footwells that allow the rider to use his entire body to connect with the watercraft reducing fatigue. The T3 hull dynamics, combined with the Ergolock system, allows the rider to realize more of the available power from the ROTAX high output 4-TEC engine to maintain maximum speed around the entire track.

BRP would like to congratulate the following Sea-Doo X-TEAM riders on their 2013 IJSBA World Finals performances and their Sea-Doo watercraft podium positions.

Kings Cup Pro Run About Open Grand Prix Winners, from Left to Right: (4) Jared Moore, (2) James Bushell, (1) Veerapong Maneechom, (3) Chaowalit Kuajaroon, (5) Aero Aswar

Sea-Doo X-TEAM riders continue to dominate personal watercraft racing with a record setting effort at the recent 2012 PWC KING’S CUP GRAND PRIX in Pattaya City Thailand.  The King’s Cup is the last major PWC race of the year, as the top riders from around the world close out their competitive year following October’s IJSBA World Championship. For the past eight years many of the top riders have converged at the Kings Cup to battle for one last chance at a title during the calendar year.

In the premier Pro Runabout Open class Veerapong Maneechom (Thailand), James Bushell (United Kingdom) and Chaowalit Kuajaroon (Thailand) showed the world once again that it takes the all-new Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 to claim a podium spot this year. James Bushell after winning runabout world titles in both Pro Open and GP tied overall winner Maneechom in points at the end of the weekend, but it came down to a tiebreaker the final moto. Maneechom separated himself from the pack during his final moto victory, and the event ended with Maneechom standing on the winners spot at this years King Cup. Not only did Sea-Doo riders fill the podium, Sea-Doo X-TEAM riders in the Pro Runabout Open class took spots one through seven, and eight of the top ten racers were riding Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft.

After the dominating performances at the IJSBA World Finals the X-TEAM momentum continues. The fastest riders in the world are choosing to ride Sea-Doo watercraft. These numbers continue to grow since the Sea-Doo RXP-X has arrived on the market; lets take a look…

–       Of the 134 racers in the runabout category at the Kings Cup, 103 of them were riding Sea-Doo watercraft, an impressive 77%.

–       There were 27 podium spots available, 23 of them were claimed by a Sea-Doo.

–       Nine class championships were available, eight of those were won by a racer on a Sea-Doo watercraft.

Pro Am Runabout stock class shared a familiar theme with the Pro Runabout Open class. Once again Sea-Doo took the top three positions with Terra Settura from Thailand taking the top honors. Settura won two of the four motos. Runner up Omude Salee from Cambodia put up a challenge by also winning two motos, but Settura’s combined moto scores bested Salee’s for the 2012 title. Rounding out the podium was Thanaphan Phungjunan from Thailand.

As race season comes to an end and plans are made for 2013, one can’t help but wonder how many racers will be aboard Sea-Doo watercraft next season. Congratulations to all of the new Kings Cup Champions and to all racers who chose Sea-Doo as their watercraft of choice at this years PWC Kings Cup – World Cup Grand Prix
