SEA-DOO EXTENDS STATUS OF RACING DYNASTY WITH SIXTH CONSECUTIVE PRO OPEN IJSBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

  • RXP-X wins premier Pro Open world title for sixth straight year
  • RXP-X wins Pro GP world title for sixth straight year, filling podium
  • 2017 Sea-Doo SPARK TRIXX watercraft generates buzz among event guests
Repeat Pro Open Champion - György Kasza

The Sea-Doo X-TEAM continued the domination of world finals watercraft racing, claiming 11 championships*, nearly double that of the closest competing brand. György Kasza of Hungary continued to build the Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft dynasty with his repeat win in the premier Pro Open class bringing the total in that class to six years running. Kasza was joined on the podium by RXP-X mounted racers Mohammed Burbayea of Kuwait and Jun Ikoma Funabashi of Japan for a Pro Open clean sweep for the Sea-Doo X-TEAM.

Pro GP champion - James Bushell

Also adding to the dynasty is the sixth consecutive PRO GP championship win with Waleen Alsharshani taking the win with  James Bushell of the UK taking the runner-up spot on his Sea-Doo RXP-X followed by fellow X-TEAM rider Erminio Iantosca of the US, filling out the podium. The event, attended by the top riders in the world, proved the dynasty of performance dominance lives with the Sea-Doo 300-HP watercraft models. The 2017 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 and RXT-X 300 come equipped with a new ROTAX 1630 ACE engine, that together with the new Ergolock system, allows riders to enjoy more performance, confidence and greater control to push limits even further.

dsc00462Event guests were also buzzing about the new Sea-Doo SPARK TRIXX, the new watercraft from BRP that provides a new way to play on the water. Guests were able to test ride the new TRIXX model and qualify for the TRIXX Trial Competition in which the finalists were given 90 seconds to show off their best tricks for the opportunity to win a Cyclops action sports camera. The TRIXX Trials Competition will be featured in an upcoming video on Sea-Doo social media channels.

In connection with the IJSBA World Finals was the Sea-Doo Ultimate Owners Ride VI that drew 75 participants. Sea-Doo owners were led on a 45+ mile round trip from Site 6 launch ramp in Lake Havasu City, AZ, under the historic London Bridge and up the Colorado River to Pirate Cove Resort and Marina in Topock, CA. Riders from as far as Ontario, Canada took part.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.25.19 PMJames Bushell is special. A talent like this doesn’t come around often. Bushell has been the most dominant professional runabout watercraft racer in the world over the past five years and there are no signs of him slowing down. Bushell recently won his second consecutive King’s Cup Pro GP crown on his 158Performance RXP-X at the annual race held in Thailand.

James is from the UK, not necessarily known as a PWC hotbed, yet the riders from the region are passionate about the sport and have produced some of the world’s best talent including racers Lisa Barsby and Anya Colley as well as freestyle champion Lee Stone. Bushell began his run in this millenniums first decade winning a handful of World Championships but it was in 2011 when he took his riding to another level.

Bushell was targeted by Sea-Doo Competition management, with super tuner Les Cooke of the legendary Sea-Doo Centre, as the right fit to launch the new Sea-Doo RXT-X with T3 hull on to the race scene at the 2011 World Finals. It was an, “all-in” approach with Bushell as the focus rider on the new platform and he didn’t disappoint winning both the Pro Open and Pro GP class the first race out of the gate and has added nearly a dozen more major championships to his resume since.

Screen Shot 2015-12-16 at 4.24.30 PM The Thailand King’s Cup is the last major race of the year and Bushell was excited to repeat as champion. “My experience in Thailand was awesome this year couldn’t asked for better result,” said Bushell. “This year was a bit stressful as the container with my Sea-Doo units arrive the night before the race. My modified SPARK with turbo was awesome and a really fun machine to ride and my 2016 rxpx worked perfect and it a pleasure to ride.”

Look for Bushell to race the SPARK classes more in 2016 and to continue his winning streak on the RXP-X 300.

BRP RAISES WATERCRAFT RACING SUPPORT WITH 2013 SEA-DOO X-TEAM ‘BIG BUCKS’ BOUNTY PROGRAM

BRP continues to lead the watercraft industry in racing success and support with the 2013 Sea-Doo RXP-X and RXT-X models, Sea-Doo X-TEAM ‘BIG BUCKS’ Bounty racer contingency program, and Sea-Doo Promoter support program.

BRP enters the 2013 watercraft racing season with immense momentum following one of the most dominant IJSBA World Finals performances in history. Sea-Doo watercraft racers claimed 16 of the available 21 titles and filled 47 of the 63 available podium positions led by X-TEAM rider James Bushell. Bushell has claimed four PRO Runabout titles in two years aboard his 158 Performance Sea-Doo RXP-X.

Bushell and other RXP-X riders will have the opportunity to claim more money for top finishers in 2013 with an inflated Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty racer contingency program, the only program of its kind.

The 2013 Sea-Doo X-TEAM ‘BIG BUCKS’ Bounty program will offer larger payouts for wins and championships, raising the incentive to finish on the podium at IJSBA sanctioned events in the United States and Canada. BRP’s Sea-Doo X-TEAM Bounty is open to all racers competing on modern Sea-Doo models in designated Novice, Expert, and Pro classes. The Sea-Doo contingency is essentially an, “open-sponsorship” that excludes no one, except those competing on watercraft other than Sea-Doo.

The Sea-Doo Promoter Support program provides event promoters sponsorship to help them produce more, high-quality, fun events. BRP works with the promoters to ensure Sea-Doo owners have a place to ride and compete in an organized manner, providing another fun aspect of owning a Sea-Doo watercraft.

“BRP is dedicated to supporting the sport of watercraft racing and giving the high-performance Sea-Doo watercraft owner a place, with incentives, to enjoy their Sea-Doo in a competitive atmosphere,” says Adrien De Alexandris, Brand Manager of Sea-Doo watercraft. “Watercraft racing is a great family sport and supporting this community compliments our efforts in producing the industry’s best high-performance watercraft in the Sea-Doo RXP-X, RXT-X, and GTR 215 models.”

BRP does more for the sport of watercraft racing than any other company. For 2013 it begins this weekend with the Sea-Doo X-TEAM ‘BIG BUCKS’ Bounty program available to Sea-Doo racers competing at the Mark Hahn 300 endurance race and continues through the entire 2013 season culminating at October’s IJSBA World Finals. The 2013 Sea-Doo X-TEAM ‘BIG BUCKS’ Bounty program boasts US National Tour and World Finals championship prizes of up $4000.

The Sea-Doo Promoter Support program will include sponsorship of the following North American watercraft racing series:

  • •IJSBA World Finals, Lake Havasu City, AZ
  • •Toyota UWP IJSBA US National Tour, Seven stops across the United States
  • •Pro Hydro-X Tour, South-East United States
  • •Texas Championship Tour, Texas and the Sea-Doo X-TEAM Hour on liquidspeedradio.com
  • •GreenHulk.net HydroDrags, South-East United States (Drag Racing)
  • •Canadian Watercross Tour, Ontario, Canada
  • •RPM West Coast Series, California and Arizona (closed course and endurance)
  • •Great Lakes Watercross, Wisconsin and Minnesota
  • •Hahn 300, Lake Havasu City, AZ (endurance)
  • •Aqua-X Series, Florida
